The dude sleeps/eats/breaths big fish. Plus, a lot of times, his dad Tim is the other captain. Captain Tim probably has spent more hours offshore than most captains on the coast combined.

I have a friend that would go and fish and give emotional support and have a blast... She fishes with me every year in Alaska... Me thinks I should make that happen next year... I will even get me a fishing shirt in memory of my brother and have ESP on it and take him along this TBH trip.... Thanks Burnadell...

Yes Angie - you and your friend need to jump on one of these trips! It's a darn blast, and sushi is pretty much right then and there anytime.

In a couple of weeks, Timmy, Mike and I are rolling to San Diego for an 8 day, long range fishing trip, aboard Polaris Supreme. Destination will more than likely be Guadalupe Island - where massive Great White sharks are making it a bit gamey with hooked tuna. For once we can fish with Timmy without the pressure of him having to manage boat and crew. Having a Chef covering 3 meals with hors d'oeuvres, and 2 man cabins with bunks will be a nice change. The hope, we nail some Pacific Bluefin tuna as we chase the rest of the usual Baja mix. I'll cover this trip with a bunch of cameras and share that scene once we return.

And Poke - Glen got us all dialed in with this version of sushi.

Roasted sesame seeds
Roasted sesame seed oil
Shallots
Soy sauce
Rice vinegar
Honey
Chili Garlic sauce

I've put cilantro in it as well

We get a big bowl chilled down and gather around with crackers and go to town

AHI Tuna Jerky - Doug started this trend.

You can buy it online but - it's expensive, real expensive.

Easy enough to do, with tuna trimmings.

Less than 8 weeks to go. Bought some Ahi Assault Diamond Glow Jigs and my brother is getting a couple Cush It anti-groin-bruising-devices.

Both of us are in decent physical shape but have started upping the workout intensity level... to help ease the whooping we are going to receive.

Also wear shorts where you can put the Cush It in the pocket if you can - saves the gut/groin

The Big Game model will fit the largest rod butt. If it's a bit loose, stick a cut up rag or something around the rod butt to snug it up.

Lol!!! Well, you know, boys WILL be boys...or whatever they identify as.

All kidding aside, there are some pranksters in the bunch (don’t fish with Uncle Saggy’s hand carved lure ), I am confident they would be on their best behavior if ladies were on the adventure.

If they will have you? They will certainly have you if they allowed an irascible, old coot like me!

Eat your dessert first. Don't buy green bananas. Life is short. One of these days, soon (too soon), you will be an old phart and just not have it in you to do a grueling trip like this, or health may prevent it. How many people over the last few years have said, "I need to do that next year", or "one of these days"? Then, next year they say the same thing. Heck, several folks above have said this. Next year may not come. Empty that bucket list, my friend! You will not ragrat it!

Of course you will! You, Rob, Doug, Josh, Mike, Dale, and Chuck are infected with the Tuner Disease , probably from the knives ! Y'all would miss your mothers' funerals if you had a tuner fishing trip lined up !

I hate to miss this one, and I'm not even gonna be in Venice (the real one) this time . Hopefully, my old worn out body has one more tuner trip in me...next year or closer in, maybe Louisiana. We will see.

You ladies have fun and tell Garca I'll miss him...think of him every day!
