Hey Guys,

In the process of acquiring some property in Anderson County just west of Elkhart a little north of the Trinity River. Just hoping to get some general feedback about the area. Ive been reading the county itself can be good, hoping to find somebody in my part of the county. Thanks In Advance!

I lost one buck I have been watching for a couple years now. He unfortunately was hit by a car this last week. I've got a lot of good looking 3yr olds. Down to 1 target that is very mature. He broke his G2 off 3 wks ago.

Should have some new boys showing up soon as well.

Pics 1-3 are the buck that was hit.
Pics 3-5 are mature target. Lots of history with this guy. We have had our run ins the last couple seasons.
Poc 6-8 are of a 3 maybe 4yr old with very good potential. Hope to see him 1-2 more seasons.

To me that last one is hard to age. In the flank he would look like a 3 year old but that deer's face is bulkier like an older deer. Probably right about 4. No question if the second buck is old enough. Good luck.

Do yíall think these two deer are the same from last year?

As you can see the two ran together last year, and they were together this year.

I had both the 8 and the spike bed down under my tree last year. Hoping to get more pics the next time Iím up at the lease.

What would be a reasonable price for approximately 150 acres southwest of Elkhart to lease. Land has water no house but decent area to put trailer, camp etc. Would 3 hunters be too much for the size?

8 point may be the same, but that 3 point looks to be first rack, so different deer.

3 hunters is a lot for that amount of land however most of the area there is thick. I would max do maybe 2 hunters. There was 125 acres next to me leased one year with 2 hunters. They each paid $1400. No water, no electricity, notta. Drove in and parked when they wanted to hunt.

Kind of what I was thinking. Land has not been hunted in years. Definately good deer population and great terrain. Trinity river across the road. We are contemplating leasing it out this year.

We had some hard horned a week ago, and last year at this time the whole group was still in velvet.... Does drought conditions affect when they shed?

I gotta go hog killin' behind my house... Only deer I have coming in with any regularity is an old mamma doe that had triplets... She and all three fawns are here regular, but other than that, it's all pigs... The pregnant sow from last year is back and has 3 of her pigs with her... Me and the grandsons may just shower down on that mamma first this weekend if I can get the stand out where I want it... When the pigs don't show, deer show up, but my bucks have all disappeared for now... had a good shooter 8 with tall brow tines coming in pretty regular before the hogs took over... Hope I can fix that problem.

Yessireee, that's the plan... My grandsons are a bit young yet, but I'm gonna give the oldest one a crack at that mamma hog... He's been doing really well with the X-Bow... After that whether or not he gets her, I'll go back later and take 'em out either with my shotgun or an AR...

Put cameras out 8/28 in Angelina NF and saw two fresh scrapes. The biggest of the two was where I had planned to put a camera.
