Man I just got caught up with the thread... Pretty dang exciting day for you guys... I'm at least at my lease now... Gonna do a helicopter survey in the morning... Then supposed to blast off home to get ready for our Chandeleur Island fishin' trip, third try... That ain't lookin' too good tho... weather forecast for the Islands is nasty... may have to cancel AGAIN!! Lord just don't want me fishin' this year I guess... If it gets cancelled, I'll hunt Saturday morning, maybe even tomorrow evening... Need some freezer stuffers...

Good luck Y'all this weekend... Gonna be nice for you guys... Here in South Texas, not so much... supposed to get nasty down here...

Took my stepson to school this morning, took a look outside before we left had 15 does and yearlings and 6 bucks eating corn. Largest was a 10 pt pushing 140 that I have passed every day. I know he is 5.5 plus and there is a chance that a neighbor will kill him if he steps out in front of them. Cant help but think he will blow up if he makes it another year. This was right after the heavy rain let up. Yesterday they started moving around 2:00 all the way till dark.

I'm finally going to hit the woods this weekend for an afternoon in Anderson County. Football season will end tonight, and I will be going in blind. Haven't had a chance to put out cameras, fill feeders, or even plant a food plot this year, also haven't looked at my stands since May. It is going to be a crap shoot lol, but it will be nice to get in the woods finally.

He is 17 now and killed several does and his first buck was an 8 pt. Now he has no interest in anything outdoors because his dad put him on a guilt trip everytime he did something. Such as well I wanted to take you to kill your first deer, well I wanted to take you to kill a buck. But I wanted to take you fishing etc. Otherwise if he could show some appreciation for the outdoors and helped me prep and feed then he could kill any buck he wanted.

Sucks coparenting has many difficult levels many donít realize till your dealing with it first hand, but on another note if the bucks made it this many years he may have another in him

Does anyone else find shooting pigs wadded up under a feeder to be difficult? To me it’s like blasting in to a wad of ducks without picking one out. It just never seems to work out like I expect.

Lol.

Some people in my office say the same about me.

I believe the comment this week was...."I feel for your wife, youre probably more raw at home. We have the tame shane.

Is that good or bad?

7.5 hours swaying like a gypsy singing Kum-ba-ya in a tree I saw a cat squirrel at 12:15. Only reason I saw him is the wind blew him out of the nest

Weather: N wind 7-10mph........ FAIL. I never saw less than 15. Looking back I should has went into the thicker stuff, but wind was swirling there and at least consistent where I was Tomorrow is another day

Well tonight he was back in my stand so I went to his. He saw four does and, well, I saw a big 8 with a mule deer kicker.

Well we rollled into camp after midnight after the football game and loading everything up. Wife decided she was sleeping in and sure enough a legal 9 point came through first at 50 yards then again at about 35. No monster but would of been a heck of first deer.

So now I feel kinda dumb. I took my daughter Tuesday after school to the set up I made for her. And within 10 minutes the buck I THOUGHT was “Baby Huey “ came in. Of course she wants to shoot it and I don’t blame her although he is incredible as a young buck. Well she gets in the trigger TWICE and he turned on her. Never offered a good shot (at 40 for a few minuets). When he left out he walked by camera. When we left we snuck out and didn’t disturb anything. I rebaited it at noon today and pulled the card..... completely different buck (though he looked bigger in person).... she was 1/10 second from killing a great 10 (bigger than Baby Huey). Ain’t seen him before or since

This is 38 acres and I can’t keep track of all the bucks. It’s honestly non stop daylight movement there..... I’m hunting 115 acres of once prime thicket with a monster in it... and since fly by night oil company started “working “ I have not seen a deer with my eyes since September
