We have deer, not a lot but decent amount, I have heard of some monsters, I had a good deer pass thru last yr but only one sitting. Hoping it improves with time but the last yr I have been there they are very inconsistent.

I heard that one landowner started it by not hunting at all.... They got age and there seems to be a lot of protein in the vegetation there.... Be patient..I think youíll do good....

I don’t plan to ever shoot doe and only bucks I will shoot are either ancient or once in a decade trophies that are mature. I have a lease so I’m in no hurry to kill any bucks. I think coyotes are a bit of a problem and size of properties in my area.

Need to finish front deck and roof, paint containers and install overhead doors between containers.
Still a lot to do but feel like we are finally getting somewhere.

The reason I raised the roof structure so high above the containers is so that I can build a loft above and between the two containers in about half of the middle space. Will have about 7’ of head clearnace.

Awesome progress! My company does a lot of survey work in Navarro County, and I really like the area around Navarro Mills. Haven't seen any turkeys but lots of deer and hog sign around Navarro Mills Lake. Would love to find a place over that way one day.

Yes, I actually hooked up the disk yesterday but ran out of time. I was trying to move my big box blind to the back but it wonít quite fit thru my bridge and itís to tight to get around the back way.

Had a pretty productive weekend, got food plots plowed and planted, interior of cabin finished out, cleaned up some and got all my posts set for front porch.

Food plots

I thin my neighbor noticed my nice food plots and my feeder. Now grant it the tripod is prob 150+ from fence but convienent itís positioned to see my food plot and feeder thru an opening.
Itís hard to see but u can see the black seat in the trees. I think he only rifle hunts so the cover in those mesquites is gonna get thin come November.

Man, you busted it and got allot done! Looks good.

You may have to look into planting some screening cover along the fence line.

Man really I didnít think it was an issue and like I said he is at least 150yd so really nothing to complain about. The owner doesnít hunt and he actually owns two parcels on two of my borders. His brother in law is the one that hunts and it seemed like most of his little hunting was in the other parcel. I guess he noticed my work this weekend. Saturday no tripod, today tripod.
Oh well.

I hate to make it sound like I donít trust people but I donít trust people!

Seems like we hear stories about the cousin, brother-in-law, guest of the land owner, etc. making a bad decision. Your honey hole may be too tempting.

Exactly my thoughts when I saw it. Nothing to complain about until something happens since he’s not on the fence, heck I’m prob closer than he is but it’s only because my place is long and narrow. Will prob keep a trail cam over there just in case once season starts.

Well I dont know about the cost effective part, We saved on concrete under the containers and saved on the steel for the structure since we didn't have to use alot of red iron. In the end I would say we prob saved some with the containers and have a pretty durable living qtrs. It's been fun regardless. I'll be ready to do it again some day now that I have it somewhat figured out

Electricians topped out the electric and lowered everything up so we now have full power. Now we can start spending some nights there. That’s when the real fun will start!
