    Front porch remodel ideas

I’m removing the columns. Cutting the arched straight. Looking for ideas of what would look good. Wanting a rustic look.

Have any pics? I’m betting the columns are structural

The columns are loose. Not weight bearing

I would go back with rough cut cedar posts. Those columns may be loose at the moment but I bet they were initially load bearing. Put posts. that’s a lot of weight overhead.

Tons of rustic trim designs on that rough cut cedar.

I would also suggest removing that bush in the middle of the patio

I can’t tell from the pic but repaint the top of the porch and put board and batten up there. What’s there now. If it’s smooth and good still it could be real simple to give it the board and batten look.

Bush is gone. Thinking about covering the brick with a German Schmeer or white paint.

I added these rails last year… cause my wife looked on Pinterest. I built from 2x4 rectangular tubing.

If I had it to do over I’d prefer to be hit in the groin with a sledgehammer

                          Those bushes need to go.

Probably not what you’re looking for but we are in the process of remodeling our porch.
First I built the shutters for all the front windows of the house and then took out the old railings and built this design. When the wife is through painting and staining, we will add a large iron lone star to the center. We did the design to resemble an old farm gate.
