Looks good. Doesn’t look 18” to the top of the pipe. But I’m not there.

You’re absolutely right. The one that was put in by a TECL and inspected by the City is maybe 12” if you measure right.

Picked the right week to pour a slab— curing out nice & slow.

Man, did you shoot a bobcat in KS? Somebody going to call the law on you for this sooner or later!

No kidding. What a bunch of Karens.

Nice work OP. It's obvious that this isn't your first rodeo and you know what you're doing. Quality work so far.

I think I've settled on the exterior design.

The east elevation should show the gable dormer, but I haven't fixed that up yet. We have two leftover windows from a screw up the window company made in measuring for our lake house, so we figured we'd plug them in. The roof at our lake house is a weird pitch, so you can see the top edge of the windows in the dormer is not parallel to the roof line. Whatever-- this south side faces a neighbor's shed and heavy vegetation, so it's not going to be seen.

I wanted to articulate the walls some to break it up, but it's hard to do that and be as compact and space efficient as I wanted to be, so I broke up the exterior finish with lap siding and board and batten (all Hardie) to mix it up a little. As I mentioned, the south side faces the fence so I wasn't worried about that and lap siding is cheaper than B&B. I actually thought about reclaiming metal roofing panels from the main house for the south wall, but it didn't turn out to save us much money and would have injected another major project into the middle of this one, so I've pretty much abandoned that idea.

                                Second Dwelling Unit Build

Yesterday started off frustrating as we got an inch of rain. Made lemonade and built headers til it cleared up.
