This week, draw a quarter sized dot in the center of your target. On your first shot of the day, try to get as close to the dot as you can. Take a tape and measure from the outer edge of the dot to the closest point on your arrow. To keep it simple, always round down to the nearest inch. So, an example would be I shoot and my arrow impacts 5.75 inches from the dot. On that day, my score would be 5 points. We will continue this for five days at these yardages: 15, 15, 18, 18, 20. At the end of the week, you can eliminate your worst shot of the week and simply add up your score from your best four days. At the end, the lowest score wins (kinda like golf).

To clarify,
Day 1 a guy hits 5+ inches away from the dot, that’s 5 points. (15 yards)
Day 2 is 8+ inches away, that’s 8 points. (15 yards)
Day 3, 4+ inches away, that’s 4 points. (18 yards)
Day 4, 2+ inches away, that’s 2 points. (18 yards)
Day 5, 12+ inches away, that’s 12 points. (20 yards)

Remember to always round down to the nearest inch and eliminate your worst shot from one day. This fellas score would be 5+8+4+2=19. The lowest total score wins!

Andrew…should I have round my first shot to zero? I reread your instructions for clarification and you stated “round DOWN to nearest inch”. I inadvertently read that as round to nearest inch. I round day 1 up and day 2 down…nearest inch and all. However I think I am in violation of your rules. Which would you prefer…your call…no biggie either way.

It’s hard for me to tell exactly but it looks to me to be under an inch. That would mean it’s a zero. Whatever you do, it was a really solid shot.

For me today, not so solid of a shot. I immediately regretted the way I let this one go.

4 points today for a two day total of 6 points.

Day 4 started pretty disappointing score of a 9. But.... Day 4 ended with probably the coolest and most satisfying feelings of my hunting career so far. Hog down!! First kill with my recurve. Andrew put me on them today.
