We Were Soldiers.... The ending gets me every time I watch it.

Read the book. It goes into horrific detail about what the survivors of X-ray went through following the engagement. Possibly one of the most chaotic and tragic experiences American soldiers ever experienced. I’ve watched the movie several times and go back to the book occasionally as it is difficult to wrap my mind around what they went through.

Equally depressing is the movie Stalingrad.

Outside of what has been mentioned above, as a dog owner, Marley and Me is a gut puncher. A sad reminder that even though our best friends aren't with us long, to them, its a lifetime.

I was about to say this. I had a yellow lab at the time who has since passed. It was tough for me to watch.
