After the rain find

We got 2” of rain yesterday and after rains like that I go walking the pasture looking for points and flint pieces.

I found this nice core piece sitting on top of a gopher pile.

It was the base rock that they broke off the slivers that were used to make the points. The core is what’s left basically when it’s used up.

Johnny, that’s about 10’ down the hill from my dig site over the last couple years. That is the 4th core to come from the same area. I just haven’t had the time to really get out and dig for a while.

I've found a couple recently at my deer lease almost identical to what the O.P. posted. Threw them back down where I found them assuming they weren't anything special. Having said that I bet I'll never find another one no matter how much I look.
