I didnt think Texas had a chance against OK.
I pay attention to Kyler Murray - had no idea that their defense was that horrible.

Ready for another solid week. Haskins and Tua should be leading the way for Heisman.

As a sooner fan, that game was hard to watch. Now that it is over and a new week has started, I realize that I owe the university of Texas a HUGE thanks. It has been my opinion for a several years now that Mike Needed to go. I knew that he wouldn’t because brother was in charge. I figured that he would be gone after the playoff loss last year, and was surprised when he wasn’t. It took this defensive beat down that Texas gave us to finally get it done.

I could be wrong but I find it hard to believe that we should have to score 60+ points every week just to win games. I am optimistic about the future.

A coach told me once, you are either getting better or you are getting worse. OU’sdefense was getting worse by the week. Hopefully this will help the until they get a new DC.

OU defense is not good this year, but UT offense was hitting on all cylinders Saturday, for 3 qrters at least. I just hope it wasn't a RRR anomaly. We'll find out soon enough.

Quick question since your so thankful Stoops is gone. Did he miss all those arm tackles? Did he get pushed around on the DL? Did he commit all those pass interferences? The short answer is no. Scheme hasn’t been OU’s problem. They’re soft up front, get little push and coverage is awful. When you have an offense as potent as they have you tend to miss those things, or just refuse to see it. Some of the best defenses OU has ever had were led by Stoops. The problem is they do t have a physical culture about them. And now you’re going to have an interim DC whose DL has been awful this season taking over. Wasn’t McNeal the man who gave Riley his first shot as OC? Payback is coming. And shoot us straight straight shooter. We really want to know if you’re glad he’s gone. Lol

Did he miss the arm tackles? No, you arm tackle when you are out of position. Get them in position.

Did he get shoved around on the DL? No, teach them to get their *** down and play low. Also recruit better.

I’ll add more for you coach. Did they[ the players] decide to line up 15 yards off on 3rd and 1? No, Stoops did.

6th game in and they could get lined up until about 1 second before the snap. That’s on him. Dumb it down or have an automatic call.

It was time for a change. Just hate that it happened when it did. He had gone stale about 3 years ago.

The DL technique is on your DL coach, who by the way is your new DC. I saw Texas receivers get challenged on slant routes and lose because they weren’t physical enough and had poor technique. Again, that’s on position coach.
Your scheme doesn’t matter when the technique and physicality is poor.
Your problem is Lincoln Riley is Mike Leach 2.0, he doesn’t care about defense.

Not a coach either, but I do actually watch the games

I read tgere were several players that were crying at halftime wanting to quit. Anything to that?

So I’m guessing venables left because things got stale too? He seems to be doing well at Clemson putting a stout physical defense on the field! Culture

More like score when we get in the red zone. We’re moving the ball. It’s a combination of untimely penalties, fumbles, missed field goals.

The DC is responsible for how the defense plays. If the DL coach isn't getting it taught it's his responsibility to see that the DL coach is teaching it correctly. Same goes for the DB coach. He sees both units everyday.

Keep in mind McNeill is the interim. He's been in this very position before and the defense improved greatly with lesser talent. We will see.

Ps. Venables left because he wanted his own gig and not be co D.C.

All I've read was 1 player walking out of locker room. I heard Stoops offered to resign after the game and Riley said no.

That's not the Texas program. A loss to a highly ranked OU would have not derailed anything. This team wasn't supposed to go 11-1. They would still have been on track for 9-3, 8-4 or possibly even 10-2(doubtful).

That would have caused a fan meltdown, not a program dumpster fire.

Obviously I was joking about turmoil.

I did see one report that said Stoops went in and cussed everyone out and one player was gonna whip his ***. They had to be seperated. Not confirmed true by any means.

McNeal was DC at Tech, their defense was atrocious. Yes he’s responsible for the defense as a whole, but you’re replacing him with someone just as bad.

Venables leavin because he felt he should’ve been given the reigns to the defense and wasn’t. He should’ve been.

Don’t think this was Stoops resigning. This was Riley being forced to act now.

Supposedly Stoops stormed in locker room and was all over a certain player for something said to him in first half. Said player supposedly jumped on Stoops and a scuffle ensued. The player supposedly quit and Riley begged him to stay. Stoops supposedly offered resignation and Riley told him no, but supposedly Boren stepped in and Riley was forced to let him go.
Yes, there’s a lot of supposedly there, but a few friends of mine told me they heard it happened that way from someone inside the locker room.

Is that why he was offered a HC job shortly after? You really need to do some research.

Eastern Carolina University! Great gig

Research. The two years that McNeal was sole DC at Tech they were ranked 82nd and 50th in yds/game and 83rd and 42nd in points given up per game. He did show improve the in second year but wasn’t retained by Tuberville. East carolina, his alma mater, hired him in 2010.

I'm sure there was a lot of pent up frustration from Army game. Maybe even going all the way back to the playoffs last year. It's understandable there was an explosion. I suspect Riley knew he was going to make a change and hoped he could make it through the season. Now that some pressure was relieved, things will settle down for a bit. The players will play just a little harder for awhile. They have a bye week to figure it out but better be ready when they come to cow town.

A-State vs. App state on ESPN2. Looking like a decent game.

I believe after riley left ECU started struggling to score, went 5-7 and McNeal was fired.*♂️
So actually it proves my point. ECU was scoring lots of points and won 7,8,8,10,8 games while Riley was his OC. Riley leaves and he goes 5-7 and gets fired.

We get it, you don't like OU.

You do realize Texas is #9 and controls their own destiny for a conference championship or more having already beaten the two best teams in the league in recent history, right?

It hurts. I get that. Just pipe down for one week. Ok?

Dear God. Don’t be so sensitive. I guess it wasn’t obvious I was joking.
