Here’s the kitchen I came up with in my barndo build. Didn’t have any plans only a vision in my head. I would have to draw a picture or 3 to help explain it to my wife. Just winged it as I went along. Only stipulations from the wife was that she wanted white cabinets with stainless appliances.
I decided on the simple style of shaker. It’s still a classic. I am not a professional builder of any sort but do love a Diy project. I went with using maple and multiply Russian birch on them. The Mrs. also wanted a big island with the sink facing the living area instead of the range which is kind of unconventional but that’s what she wanted.
The girls do not like granite as it’s always to busy they say so we poured our own concrete counter tops. The island is big at over 13ft long and 5ft wide. It was my idea to build the radius On the front which complicated us putting up the rock and forming the concrete top.
We chose a simple white subway style to compliment the cabs. Like a lot of other things thus was our first time tiling of any kind. Wanting a clean look you will not see the normal outlets on the back splashes. The outlets are on a strip mounted high in the back.
Thus style isn’t fir everyone but over all we like the way it came out and I for
one am glad it’s almost done. I spent a lot of time in my shop building/painting/fitting all the cabinets.
Here are some pics.
