Default Kerr WMA semi-live hunt

Well I’m here for my E-Postcard hunt. Using park Wi-Fi so not sure about reception in the field. We’ll be hunting the south pastures. Nothing assigned yet. Got another pair from the green screen out here so I’m sure they’ll chime in.
Updates as I can get them in

Glen and I are also on this hunt. Phone service at the hunt area sucks but we are staying in kerrville so I have service tonight.

We had a great day but i made a decision out there today that may haunt me for awhile. I've never struggled with not shooting a deer like this before usually can decide quickly. I generally prefer tall narrow trashy deer over wide symmetrical ones. Of course what's the first deer I see today, a super wide 8 point with split G 2s. I watched him and couple does for over an hour. Absolute beautiful perfect buck that we are guessing in the 22 inch range. I just couldn't make myself shoot the very first deer I saw. I was also really hoping for something really trashy but this one is just percect! After talking with Glen he may not be so lucky if I see him again though. I dont get chances at deer like this so I'm being very particular!

There were at least 2 very nice bucks and 1 doe killed today. I can't wait till tomorrow!

I seen pictures of that big kicker buck on the Kerr facebook page about a month ago. He's a stud.

Tough pass on that 8. He's a good one. Hopefully it works out for you.

Yep gun hunt. You can bait. It’s been slow for me. Seeing a few deer but nothing to get me going yet. Things can change in a split second. Good hunt Good staff.

Good day but pretty slow. Glen and I are struggling with our area, probably 90% super thick cedar. We are having fun though and gonna get it done!

There was another buck killed this morning, probably 140" 10 pt. There was also a aoudad killed. The cooler is definitely looking pretty good!

Finished the day with nothing but turkeys. There was another good 10 killed this morning, not sure what pasture.
And a decent aoudad ram in west bobcat.

2 does and a nice 8 pt brought in this morning but nothing for me and Glen. Glen is trying a new spot tonight we have been corning that looks very promising. Im going back to the stand where I saw the big forked 8. Probably won't ever see him again but if I do I'm going to take him.

The big trashy buck ended up scoring 173 gross. Second biggest deer ever killed here.

I'm guessin' the biologists take one side of the lower jaw for research data. Just a guess.

Well, they take the lymph nodes to check for CWD if you let them. But that one looks odd.

Best of luck fellas.

No matter the success, it's a beautiful place to hunt. I was there for turkey fours years ago.

The idea that you have no idea what could walk out plus looking at new country keeps me applying for little jewels like this.

Yea. I almost shot her. Stood eating corn at 70 yards and would blow every 5 minutes. Looking the other way. She came close a few times

David you know I don’t pay that close attention, I just show up and go, I’m settled o. The power line and hope I don’t have to kill this doe. Doug is back at that mulley buck - no glasses this morning so may get some comical spelling

Update from me. I brought in the 8 yesterday. 5.5 yrs old FD 135. One 10 and the aoudad were that heavy, the rest were smaller. Had two bucks at dawn on my yellow brick road. This one was definitely bigger. The more I looked the bigger he looked lol. Knew he wasn’t giant but thought he was 15” at least. I wasn’t seeing the activity or numbers in my pasture most we’re seeing so I decided to pull the trigger. Planning to leave today anyway.
Key here is alfalfa they’ll come to it first and find your corn quicker.
Great hunt, great staff. Always enjoy hunting here. They have a new very nice cleaning station now too.
