Had one hell of a day in Cabo. Checked a Striped Marlin off of my list. Probably saw 30 or so Marlin today, but had a hard time getting them to eat. 3 hook-ups, but this is the only one we landed. Round 2 tomorrow!

Cerviche…

What are the reg on the texas coast about cleaning a fish on the boat to make cerviche?

We are heading offshore in the morning and may hook a snapper or two at the close rigs on our way out… can I clean a fish in the boat? Do I need to keep the carcass??

Last time we did this I was too young and dumb to care if it was legal

Expensive learning experience this weekend. Learned how to Leroy fish for trout with croaker. It just wasn’t my cup of tea. Soaking croaker for trout is boring. Nothing compared to a popping cork.

Nice fish. Most tourneys would’ve kicked that red for the tail.

If you are referring to the tail being cut… they snip tails after you weigh in so one fish can’t be weighed in twice

Ahh, ok. I didn’t even notice all the other fish’s tails being cut. IFA booted me before with fish that would’ve won because we had a 26.5” red with a very small deformation on tail…still wouldn’t have even made 27”.

Nice fish btw.

Yeah thanks man!! We were in muddy water so I couldn’t really tell how big she was until I got her in the net… but it was a hell of a moment when me and my buddy laid on eyes on her lol

Got a call Friday to see if me and me and my son wanted to go offshore Sunday for the snappers. Well we made a good choice. 47 miles out of Freeport. 5 adults 2 teens and got em good. Also caught some chicken dolphin. No kingfish were harmed.

This was my sons first trip that far and he did great. The water was chocolate milk about 15 to 20 miles outside of jetty.

4 man limit of reds and specs by 11:00 this morning…. Got one of those mornings you could run the gulf side in the shoalwater

More bait and sharks and jack crevalle than you could shake a stick at

Day 2 started off hot, then it went back to seeing big groups of Marlin on top, with lock jaw. All in all a great 2 days of fishing. Never seen so many Marlin lying on the surface like this.

Day 2 was another killer.

We were limited on trout by 7:30am and stacked the reds up by 10… caught 60-70 trout in all and 35 ish reds, had a little harder time finding schools of bigger fish. But all in all a real hard day to beat

Good stuff! Congrats! I can remember fishing the surf with my dad when I was a kid and standing neck deep on my tippy toes next to my dad who was about belly deep. Every little wave or swell I had to jump to keep my head above water. But I caught fish.

I haven't been on much lately because I have been busy fishing. The last few days have been pretty good. The surf has been solid for both trout and reds. I'd sure love it if it would hold for a few more days. It's been nice and easy.

Look on google earth and go down the beach and follow some of the trails in the dunes to the south shore line You can access Hog Island and Kains along with several other areas. Be careful though. The beach and dunes are 4x4 only pretty much right now.
