R.I.P. Lt. Col Richard Barber AKA "Gpa"

For those that know me or have shared a camp fire with me or Gpa, you know how near I am to my GrandFather. He lost his fight this last friday morning and Passed away in the presense of Family and friends. He will be greatly missed but never forgoten and i can honestly say that I am a better person for being near him for so long. I had the blessing to be near him when he passed and I could tell how peacefull he was when he took his last breath. He was always a avid outdoorsman and taught me so much. I only hope that when its my time to go, someone will be there to look at me in the same light.

If you have anyone near you that is getting up in the years and alone or sick, please go see them now!,,,stop what you are doing and go,,,dont live with the regret that you could have said one more hellor or got that last hug....i know it made Gpa's day when we i brought the kids to see him...

I lost my best friend and huntin buddy, now its time for me to pass on that same passion for the outdoors he gave to me too my kids....

I can only pray that my son and grandsons can and will, say these things about me when I pass on.

As much as I hate to read stories about people passing as it reminds me of my loved ones that have gone, I love to hear about the great men that walked the Earth if only for a short time and about the people that were fortunate enough to know them.

He sounds like one of those great ones.

May God bless and comfort the family in this time of sorrow.
