    Fire in Gulf

A blaze on the surface of the Gulf of Mexico resembling a large “eye of fire” has been brought under control, according to Mexico’s state-run oil company Pemex.

How did the gas catch fire and stay on fire?

A buddy of mine is working a job down there, laying a new pipeline for PEMEX, just heard from him, said it was about 50 miles from where they are at.

Crazy, better to have it burn off I suppose than to accumulate in that platform and cause a flash fire involving people.

Edit: The more I think about this, the more I think the gas cloud may have made it the platform, which is likely an un-manned facility, and that is what ignited it to begin with, who knows.

Edit2: Juat heard from my buddy, he said they’re told it was lightning that set it off.

The old buccaneer rigs network of pipelines had some pretty good fishing spots for snapper
