I haven't had any sense of smell and little taste in the last 2 1/2 years. It's from blood pressure meds the doctor had me on. I can't even smell gas, diesel or onions. Even though I've changed meds twice, it still hasn't come back.

My husband and I both had covid in December, and while my taste and smell have almost completely returned, my husband is another story. Everything he smells has the same odor to him. Everything he can smell, he describes as smelling like rotten garlic. It's driving him nuts! We are going to try the zinc, flonase and essential oils. The poor guy needs some relief!

I have the same issue. Lots of things smell like gasoline or rotting flesh.
I had labs drawn last week and am talking with the infectious disease specialist here in Tyler, hopefully it will lead to something. The Dr. said she has seen it but not a case as bad as mine.
If i do get some clarity, ill post here.

Haven't had China Virus that I know of. Definitely never tested positive for it but last year this time I was sick for a week or 2 with fever (fever only lasted 2 days) and then Hershey Squirts. I never lost taste or smell at all. But I have experienced some of the same. It is very weird.
If I see something and know what it smells like, my brain will register it and make the connection. But if I don't recognize the smell I get a bad smell even if I know that isn't what it smells like. It's almost like my brain is recalling a smell and replacing the actual smell with that. The first I noticed it was in October. My son shot 2 javelina on a hunt and after that EVERY nonrecognizable smell smelled like a rank javelina. About 2 months ago it changed to a different smell and I haven't figured out the smell yet but it isn't good. I guess the good thing is my taste hasn't changed so even if I smell a rank javelina I still taste what I'm eating.
Very weird but other than the odd smells I feel great and no other issues. I'll be curious to watch this thread.

I had the china virus in October. When my taste started to go, I remember eating a sandwich and thought that the mustard went bad because I couldn't taste it but could taste everything else. Then about two days later, I ate lunch and could taste everything just fine but then ate dinner that evening and couldn't taste a thing. Lost taste and smell completely for about 3 weeks. That was very depressing not being able to taste anything. It still amazes me that I wasn't congested or my nose wasn't stopped up. I could breath just fine through my nose but couldn't smell anything. My taste and smell are back about 75-85%. I used to have a bloodhound nose but its not as good anymore and some things still taste a little off.
