And another vote. Clearest binoculars I've ever owned. Granted, I've never had Leica's or Steiner, but I can tell a huge difference between my BX-4s and my dads Leupold Wind Rivers.

I have not held them or looked through but I have heard several good things about Mavens. I screwed up and let me wife use my Swaros this past year and while I love her, I am not buying her a pair of Swaros used or not. Mavens will be on the list to look at.

You can buy a used pair of Swaro EL 8.5x42 for around $1,200 and it will blow absolutely anything else in that range and below out of the water. Zero comparison.

Where is a good place to shop used Swaro's?

I bought mine on EuroOptic...they were a showroom demo.

EuroOptic has used and demo Swarovski Optik and Kahles scopes, spotters, binoculars and more - allowing you to find the deal of a lifetime on the gear that will last your entire life.

Save a little more and get some Swaro SLC 10x42. You’ll never have to mess with another pair again.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Tasco

Swarovski has discontinued the SLC 42 models. Kahles is now offering a new model, the Helia S 42, and it appears as the same specs. as the SLC.

The sub 1200 range is probably the most competitive market segment in binos. Sub 1200 I’d look at Maven and Meopta

Zeiss Conquest HD. Pretty dang close to the Swaro SLC, substantially better than Leupold’s. Haven’t looked through Maven’s, I know they are good, but at $1,000 there’s no reason not to go with Euro glass.

I was able to snag a pair of Swaro EL 10x42 off EBay for $100 about 8-9 months ago. Take your time and look around.
