    Painted buntings - 2022

S Llano River SP is always good for painted buntings this time of year. Going to Pedernales Falls SP end of the month so hopefully will add to the collection.

Cool little bird, the only one we've seen in 6 years was here a few days ago. We're outside Lockhart.

Great captures Bill as always! Interesting this year that we have only a couple of pairs hanging here at the house as last year we had so many it was crazy! This year we had 2 Indigo Buntings come thru early and nothing since and last year we had literally dozens for months. Not sure what the difference is.... no oriels this year either and last year we had many...... Mother Nature is a hard woman to figure out.

We were covered up with indigos and painteds this year in Camp Wood. Can't ever recall seeing this many.

Feed white millet. I bet they are there.

Prevailing south wind this year really affected travel routes is what is being said.

Thanks, guys. We are going to be at Pedernales over the July 4 weekend. I'm not sure how the heat will affect the birds in the area. Hopefully bring them to the water at the blinds.

Had a pair at my backyard feeders last year. First time ever to see them in DFW metro.
