Yes govt stimulus. More people are flush with cash right now than ever before. No one can hire enough people.

I've heard that from a few people. Not a theory as much as what their own employees have told them.

That would be my guess...lazy people getting paid to be lazy

I have taken a small handful days off here and there in the last few years, for fishing trips, bookend days to make a "weekend" vacation a couple days longer, and a couple of funerals. I don't comprehend the lack of self respect that some folks have for themselves, that will allow them to sit on their butt and suck off of the govt tit

It's pathetic. My parents and grandparents as well as my siblings and I would be completely embarrassed to take a dime from the government (aka my neighbor) to not work. I would rather clean porta cans than take money from the government, if I could work but couldn't find a job.

We need to end welfare for all able bodied people. Let them get hungry.

I can say I was unemployed for 10 months. Was working for United Airlines, till COVID happened.
Since then I’ve been applying over 30-60 jobs in the last 10 months, but no one wanted to hire me.
Was recently able to find work from a family friend. The issue is, it’s not something that I applied to get a job. This was more of an easy way out of unemployment.

My problems are the opposite of yours.

Your having issues with hiring, and im having issues with getting a job.

My problem is, while being unemployed for 10 months and sending like 30-60 applications to jobs that say they are desperately needing employees. And saying they canít find anyone to hire.
Then I apply, I get no responses whatsoever, then a week or 2 later. They would send out a new application out saying they are desperately hiring and blah blah blah.
So I would send out applications again, then no one contacts then itís the same never ending cycle again.

To me, if they are so desperately needing people, at least put an effort to all the applications that get send out.

Like who knows how many people are actually applying to them, but the company most likely has a very picky way of selecting the right person.

Yes the food service industry is really struggling. I used to raise heck when my burger came with mustard instead of mayo the way I ordered it or my fries were missing when I got home. Hell, now I don't even complain and actually applaud every young person I see working in these places. At least they got up and went to work that day. God bless em.

Unfortunately, a lot of these "entitled" young ME FIRST generation doesn't want the entry level jobs. They want to skip over those steps and start off on the 6 figure jobs their momma and daddy told them they deserve.

Some employers, are just plain crazy on the low wage they are offering,
$14 per hour might be a good wage for a entry level job , cost of living is hyper expensive
Wage must equal that , you lowball that = less applicants

Yeah really, Iím still seeing companies saying they are paying $9 an hr, and still canít find new employees.
Iím like well, now no one wants to work with $9 an hour. Itís almost impossible to live with that wage.

If you canít afford to pay employees the wages anywhere above $14, then you got no business in running a company. With the way how the cost of living is much higher than it was 5 years ago.

Working in the staffing industry it is one of the easiest times ever to acquire new clients because everyone is having trouble hiring but like said above with the amount people are making off unemployment most aren't gonna go to work for $9/hr anymore (Not saying I think that wage is bad just saying its gonna make it hard to acquire talent). Several of our clients have had to raise their pay so that we could start filling positions for them, others have eased their background check requirements. Our cost of marketing has increased because we are having to put forth a lot more effort to find people willing to work. I will say in the last couple months it has started to look a little better, once that unemployment/ stimulus money runs out people will be headed back to work hopefully the govt doesn't keep enabling them to stay home.

I’ll be 66 next month. I’m great health, as far as I know, and taking care of our son. I have to find someone that I would trust in our home where I can go to work. Retired at 63 in Colorado to take care of our son out of necessity.
Now there’s a ton of folks on here that have money, a huge ranch, grandchildren, boats, the whole nine yards. You have something to retire for. I’m thankful that I woke up this morning, that our son is alive and well. But working around the house trimming limbs, yard work, laundry, just aint cutting it folks. It suxx. Big time. Granted there are times when I wake up and don’t feel up to snuff so to speak that I’m glad that I’m not going in. Those have been few and far between.
The wife told me the other day “Bruce, you worked for those benefits”. Folks I could be making at least double what I getting on the government dole. I feel like a baby bird that opens his mouth and Uncle Sam drops a worm in my beak every month. If your not one of those people that I described earlier, retirement suxx. To echo This Lady, I couldn’t imagine staying home for a stimulus check.
Here’s a story I’ve shared here before. I was speaking with the lady across the street about what’s going on at the border and she has this confused look on her face. So I finish and she says “Yes but we’re getting a stimulus check”. I totally shut down and realized that some people are too stupid to talk to. She drives a new Mercedes, lives in a $450,000 home, has 4-5 kids from at least two different husbands, and, you guessed it, she,s from California. The whole bottom is gonna hafta fall out of this m f er before people like this can begin to come to their senses. Pathetic. And we’re paying for this shat.

I have seen this as well and know well qualified people that were having trouble finding a job in their field because employers were being so picky. Some of these employers must not be too desperate when they have been looking for someone with 10 years experience for 11 months and won't even give a guy who has 8 years experience a look who is willing to work now. This administration is following the socialist playbook to a Tee....... They are destroying the middle class one move at a time. More wealth is being transferred to the wealthy and the poor are growing more dependant on the government. Next will be the fall of the middle class. Just think about what is going on right now in congress with a 3.5 trillion dollar "infrastructure" bill. Who's going to pay for that? It sure won't be bezos, gates or musk!! It's going to be you and me....

Try finding responsible people that will do underground work and dig ditches. Dang near impossible. Especially when fast food places are paying 15.00 an hour...and they can't even fully staff the restaurant.

Yeah, not many people actually look at it this way as well.

Iím just mostly glad to get out of unemployment, but I honestly didnít like it at all.
It just made me so mad how people think they are struggling to hire people, but then thereís also people who are struggling to get a job.

Itís going both ways, not one.

Entry level jobs are just that. Heck, I have seen some people work and can confirm they were not worth $9 an hour. People complain that they can't raise their family working at McDonalds etc. Well, those entry level positions don't pay based on the financial needs of the worker--rather on the perceived value of the position/worker.

not saying this is the case with these 2 specific instances, but there is a right way and a wrong way to fill out an application. if a job posting says it wants a person with XYZ skills and knowledge, you should tailor your application and resume around the XYZ skills and knowledge you have. If the next job posting wants ABC skills and knowledge, you should tailor the application and resume around ABC, not XYZ or DEF. you may need 5+ versions of your resume. if you have entry level skills, you cannot apply to be the president and expect an interview. answers to questions on the application should be well thought out with no grammar or punctuation errors. and your contact email address should not be something like "iloveguns@gmail or hotmomma69@yahoo or trump2024@hotmail"

The last part of your post describes our newest lab tech perfectly. She has 2 cracker jack box degrees and thinks she should be running the company. 35 years old and this is her first real job. Single and still living at home with Mommy.

And the wheels on the bus go round and round

Usually those jobs are filled by
1. 2nd or 3rd job folks
2. High school / college students
3. People being partially supported by government or family

We need to end welfare for all able bodied people. Let them get hungry.
I agree.
Well said!

not hard to figure out when you do the math

$600.00 per week TAX FREE for pandemic unemployment; equates to $19.00 per hr after taxes taken out.
- over 30,000,000 (MILLION ) people receiving free checks
- Gov't providing housing relief / rental assistance where tenants don't have to pay their monthly rent
- many of the same people who are "milking the system" qualify for free food stamps.

You give lazy, irresponsible people an extra +/- $3500.00 per month to do NOTHING, they get acclimated to their new lifestyle real quick. They have ZERO motivation to return to work.

The liberal, spineless bureaucracy on the Federal and State levels have single-handedly changed the economic equation in America. This Country is beyond screwed.

I think its the type of people who are willing to take it have grown.

On the other hand trying to find someone willing to take my money is also short. I cant get people to call back who claim to be in the repair business, lawn mowing, gravel or gutters.

The economy and lack of people willing to work and would rather shoot and steal has lined my pocket pretty good lately and there is no end in sight. Its unfortunate companies have to pay 50-65 an hour or someone to watch heavy equipment and a hole in the ground. But I aint complaining

How do you handle the tens of thousands of businesses taking government welfare bailouts and still forcing people off onto the unemployment lines?
