    Somebody explain this

At our shop we have decomposed granite on the back porch, every night on the concrete where it’s close to the granite a line of crystal like powder forms…. What the heck is this??

Might be able to put in baggies and sell.

    I have no idea...

That’s one helluva line of white lightning you got there!!!

Looks like a mineral deposit that washed up. Heavy dew dripping from the roof? Rain washing it up? Irrigation system ?

I’d guess the concrete is sweating and it’s drawing up a mineral. Honestly have no idea what it is.

Efflorescence if I had to guess.
            Pretty common.

Look up efflorescence. It’s the mineral deposits in the ground moisture as it wicks through the concrete.

This is what I thought. It looks like mycelium which is pre-mushroom fungi

Efflorescence from the granite (Quartz, micas, etc) after tons of moisture. My guess...

                        Has anyone mentioned efflorescence?

                          I don't think so...

efflorescence is the migration of a salt to the surface of a porous material, where it forms a coating. The essential process involves the dissolving of an internally held salt in water, or occasionally in another solvent.

I am glad I saw this thread. My garage entry edge gets this often and now I know.
