I can confirm with proof of at least 3 in Harris County.

There was one killed on the expressway in Cameron county like 8 minutes away from Harlingen in front of a few houses. They have to be all over the place they keep a low profile so seeing one is a rarity.

One of the collared study lions up the road from me was tracked over 300 miles from here. For an idea of how far they can go.

Other than the one in the video above, the other one I usually see in the mornings before work. It’s hanging in my entry way, although it died in Utah!

In all seriousness, I’ve had people swear they have video footage of one inside a petrochemical plant in the county (it was on a lot of acreage).

Big Bend country probably has the largest population followed by South Texas, hill country and West Texas in that order.
