    Fire pit finished up!

After picking up a Miller 215 from a tbh’r, i had just enough time to brush up my welding skills and knock out a fire pit for our first winter in the new house.

The wheel is a 24.5” steel truck wheel, and after more attempts at cutting a 26” hexagon out of angle iron than I want to admit, I got one right!

The rest was thrown together with scraps from the shop, all I had to buy was a full sheet of the expanded metal ($80) but now I’ve got enough to make 2 more pits.

After all this rain, Grayson Co. finally lifted the burn ban and we let it rip! Very pleased with the lid design, still needs some handles to make it easier to add wood, but the open bottom left very little ash and allowed for a ton of air to move and burn those wet logs.

Holler at me if you build anymore. I have lots of drop pieces, including expanded metal.

We also still need to come by and checkout the fishing!

I think Im set on pieces to build a few more of these, but always looking for drop tubing to practice notching and learning to TIG on

No, I have a grill 40’ away and didn’t wanna mess with trying to remove all of the paint from the wheel.

Couple more pics of the bottom and lid support. Winged it on this one with leftover pieces from a go kart build lol
