Spraying trees mid winter?

Planning to doze some big honey locusts this summer. Thinking of basal spray them now with triclopyr and giving the roots a chance to rot some.
Think itll work when they're dormant?

Drill several holes in the trunk angling downward---fill the holes with the triclopyr. That should take care of it.

Yes this will work. I use diesel and remedy for basal bark on honey locust

The best time is late summer into the early fall, but it will work now.
You could also hack n squirt anytime from now until spring green up.

Good deal. I’ve only ever sprayed in the summer but didn’t have time this year. I’ll give it a shot now and see how it goes. Thanks.
