Trad First Shot Challenge Week 39 2022

Its Oktoberfest time in Germany! Libations and festivities abound. We’re targeting Germanesque game.
Red Stag are all the rage with massive headgear. Who cares about Roebucks?
A mature roebuck looks like a gnarly spike/cull from east texas that has escaped many years of spotlight predation. They should get some love from us despite the paltry head gear. Roebuck make me think more of whitetail and Red stag are more elkesque, and being the WT season cometh rapidly….

Draw or print a roebuck on a sheet of paper.
Put an aim point where you think is appropriate.
    Shoot from any position.
Shoot from 13 yards for adults. 6 yards for kids. Any yardage for weebles.
Shoot and measure first shot of the day, as many days possible.
Measure edge of shaft to aim point.
Lowest measure of first shot wins challenge.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Good skilling.
    Prost!

Howdy Reb! I was hoping youd join us.

                    Day 2: 3/4”

I finally tuned to 125gn points on my hunting longbow…its been a long time goal of mine…simply because Ive a mess of 125 heads. Whereas my arrows only weigh 410gn and shooting slightly weak. (Ive already tuned up some 630gn carbon logs) I wanted more overall arrow weight without weakening my dynamic spine and MrTrumpkin suggested fish tank air tubing and I happened to have some. So yesterday I took a random 10 1/2” section weighing in at 60gn ish that fits snug inside my shafts. I had to drop my nocking point 1/4” or so but the flight hasnt changed much and my yardage elevation tape points on my riser still match up from 410gn to 470gn. Yee Haw!

That's interesting. So did you keep the tubing forward in the arrow?

                          TT made a bobtail roebuck.

Gary, I did shove the tubing completely forward. I figured it be better than midway or at the rear. I need to dab some glue in somehow and still cogitating how to make that happen cleanly. Im sure the tubing is shifting some but it took some decent force to get it seated fully forward so I think its not shifting a whole lot.

Im still slightly weak with good form to very weak with bad form in bareshaft flight. The shafts are full length shafts and with my DL I could start cutting to stiffen them some but Im hesitant. The shafts are the discontinued Beman Centershot 500s. ID is about 1/4”. I think you shoot them too if not mistaken.

Yes I shoot 400 and 340 spines. Dark Timbers from Big Jims are really similar and great quality as well.
