Default Havalon or outdoor edge

For those of you that have used them which do you prefer? Why ?

Havalon is what I use but really don't have an opinion on the outdoor edge.

Same here. No reason to try an outdoor edge.

Outdoor edge is harder to break the blades and fits the hand better. Havalon works better if you’re fully caping off of the skull though due to smaller blade. I prefer outdoor edge razor lite edc.

I use havalon barracuda ( heavier version ) and a buddy bought one after seeing mine used. But he bought the outdoor edge thinking that is what I had. He wishes he bought the havalon, and iam glad I didn't buy the outdoor edge. We have tried each other's and both prefer the havalon.

Outdoor edge, so much easier to change the blade.

I have both, and use the Havalon a LOT more!!!! The only time the Outdoor Edge seems to have an advantage for me would be when taking apart the ball socket in the ham, and I have learned how to do it without breking the blade on the Havalon, so I just use the Havalon all the time.

Outdoor edge for me. Blades are tougher than the havalon imo. Also, the outdoor edge blade change is easier and safer.

I also have both and use them equally. I like the ease of blade change on the Outdoor Edge as it is the bigger version. I like the size of the Havalon in tight area's while gutting an animal.

I have both and use both. Havalon for more delicate work though like caping. Outdoor Edge is easier to change blades on but they do make a contraption for changing blades on Havalon that really works well.

Ever since somebody gifted me an "outdoor edge" butcher set... I told myself I would never buy/own an "outdoor edge" product again... that set was stupid terrible. Maybe their havalon knock-off is better? (don't know who came first, but I heard about havalons before I saw the outdoor edge replaceable blades.)

I like my havalon. It works great. And I always have a backup fixed/thick blade in case I need it (rarely ever do.)

I have both. As others have said the blades and support is MUCH better on the outdoor edge. For heavy work itís my go to.

About the only time I use my Havalon anymore is for fine caping or other light work.

Iíve broken dozens of Havalon blades. Iíve yet to break an outdoor edge blade.

Agreed - Outdoor edge for the strength when in the field. For precise work trimming in the kitchen Havalons are nice.

I like the Havalon better. The outdoor edge when using will get gunk stuck in where you put the blade.

Havalon for me, doesn’t get all the gunk in it like the outdoor does and the blades keep an edge longer, I also like a smaller knife.

I like the havalon for caping a hide out. Prefer the outdoor edge for quarting up meat. Outdoor edge has a strong made. Like both though.
