What’s a good roof coating to roll on the roof of an older camper? Right now it doesn’t leak but want some assurance before I haul it to the lease.

Just remember if you got silicone patches ...Pretty well nothing will stick to them..Just more silicone...

I put this in another thread a while back asking about a sealant.
I just put some sealer on my 30 foot travel trailer(with two slide outs) a couple months ago. I used the Hengs rubber roof coating and I was surprised how well it coated. It is a little less per gallon than the Dicor stuff. I got 3 gallons and was able to do two thick coats with about half a gallon left over. Definitely make sure you clean it well before putting it on. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Good luck. J |

If you can, take your camper to the lease and THEN put the coating on. If you can't do that, coat it and let it sit as long as you can before you tow it... This will help with any flexing cracks or loosening in spots that perhaps you got less than ideal coating/sticking on...

If you can find the product with ceramic mixed-in or have the means to obtain ceramic dust/beads to add, it will reflect the suns energy.

Eternabond tape is the cats meow! Ive used that on several alum roof RVs to cover seams.

As with almost all of these products (tape or liquids) cleaning preparation is the key to the longevity performance. |

Is the eternabond tape something you would use on the wall corner seams and seems around windows and fixtures? Or is it really just for the roof? Lastly, do you apply a coating over the tape? |

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 For windows you use the butyl tape. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Nothing goes over Eternabond tape. Throw it in the freezer for awhile before you want to lay it down. Clean up areas with acetone first. Like anything else it will not stick to silicone. |

Great info, thanks! The previous owner did use silicone on all seams so I’m just hoping I can remove it easily before applying these other products. It’s a great camper and we’ve owned it for 3 years now with low maintenance. |

If the seam has silicone in it and you can get to good material on either side just lay the eternabond over it. Wont hurt a thing.

The previous owner of my camper covered the whole roof with some white product. I’d like to figure out what it was. It is:
White Relatively rigid Not flexible Applied with a brush It seems like it was in a red gallon can but I inadvertently thru it away before I read the label. Any good idea on what product this is? Thanks! |

Is taking off the AC easy enough on most campers? That's the part I am dreading most when I do mine. I assume you have to take it off, in order to get the new sealant up to the edge of the hole in the roof?

I pulled mine off and cleaned out the dirt dobber nests last season. Not too difficult. Just requires basic tools. |

I just taped off all the vent covers and AC shroud with the blue painters tape like Toolman above. I cut in around those with a brush. Rolled the rest with 2 coats....wait a day before applying 2nd coat. I applied the self leveling Dicor sealant around the vent covers after all had dried.

I painted right over my bathroom vent. I don’t care what it looks like(lease camper) and it should protect it from UV. I’ve seen them get brittle and break.
