Default Got me a freak !!

Random trip to the deer lease as this is MY last hunt for bucks. I know down here in Jim hog county it doesn’t finish until this weekend, but I’ll be stuck at home on call for work.
Anyway, not real excited about going due to weather and full moon! STILL decided to come out anyways, cuz bottom line is “ YOU CANT KILL ANYTHING OFF THE COUCH “
Got into the blind and had weird deer all morning ( small weird bucks ) then finally around 8:45 ish I had a dark body buck come out about 220 yards away.
Pulled up the ol .308 tried to get settled in, deer never gave me a broadside shot. THEN all of a sudden, buck darts off! Man that hurt!!!
Two min later buck came running back into corn on sendero, 15-20 seconds into him eating broadside I let the ol .308 eat!!!
Top of heart/ lungs... not much of a tracking job...
check out the buck...
“ CULL PATROL”

Forgot to mention today’s my bday !!
God is good !!! Bday bucks are the best !

Whole bunch of nasal bots, they sure will creep you out the first time you see them in a deer. Congrats on culling the herd.

Common down south and out west.

Just bot flys laying eggs in deer's nasal cavity and larva doing their thing.

Deer nose bot fly.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deer_botfly

We saw them in just about every deer killed in san saba. They start crawling out when the head cools down. Gross but really interesting.

Cool deer. When you're at the lease and your head starts feeling stopped up it's just the newly hatched leave starting to swell up.

It's just nasal bots, most deer in S TX have them. They dont live in the meat just in the nasal canal

Nice cull buck
Looking like it’s time to put out some ivomec blocks if you have feed pens or feed protein
Nose bots can effect your deer herds

Man, saying you got a freak on your birthday, makes it sound like you had a great birthday. Would have been a perfect day to have a freak in the blind with you today, then kill that buck, but can't have it all. Oh well.

Happy birthday, we have something in common, I did not get a freak today or kill a buck.
