Whatever you can find at this point. I have been looking for a Colt Delta elite for over a year now. I agree with 1911 if thatís in your budget.

We traded knifes for our 40th. Both blind. So i want to pick it just like before with the 40th. I’m thinking 1911. Was thinking Kimber but want options

I don't think I would. There are Glock people, and there are Sig Sauer people, and they're very different. There's no telling what people will like, so buying somebody a pistol is risky.

If your were friend were me, though, I'd go with a P320 X-compact RXP.

Is he a revolver guy?

Looks Like Academy in Baytown and Webster have at least one of these each.

Kimbers are over priced & over rated. If you really want something good search for a gently used Colt series 70 Gold Cup a bit hard to find but they are worth the effort

Don't overlook the lowly Armscor RIA 1911's. Best thing about them is their accuracy and strength. Reliable conversion to 45 Super and 460 Rowland. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_I...ry_1911_series

Kimber. A lot of features, quality gun at a good price. Check out the TLE and Covert line. I've put thousands of rounds through a lot of different models and the only issue I had was a magazine. Run Wilson's in a 45 and Cobra's in 10mm, you'll be good.

I would think it depends on what he's going to do with it. Is is for personal carry, hunting or home protection. Buy the right tool for the job! I have one for every situation.

Default Sig P220 Elite Hunter in 10mm

Too heavy for concealed but a lot of power for sidearm in the field. 10mm power for hogs and other not so friendly critters. 1911 look as well and it's a Sig, if one likes the brand which I do?

So many factors on this one. Is he an auto or revolver guy? Budget? If i was buying one for my best buds it would look something like this:
Friend 1: Ruger Vaquero case hardened
Friend 2: Ed Brown 1911
Friend 3: Something tactical and high capacity

Myself would be a CZ DWX or Shadow 2

Someone above mentioned a kimber DASA 3 inch, just bought one and love it.

You got your work cut out for you, let us know what you decide.
