Default Used Vehicle PricesÖ..Yikes!!!

Anyone else notice how light used ore-owned vehicles have sky rocketed? Saw a dealership tying to sell a decent shape 2013 FJ cruiser with 129k on the odometer for $45k!!! Great time to sell right now, horrible time if your buying unless itís buying new.

Yep was looking at a very low mileage 2019 F350 4x4 Platinum. It lasted maybe a week at $80k. This was at a dealer. They tried very hard to get me to trade my pickup in on it.

Yep. That’s why when our daughter’s starter truck (2001 F250 PSD) gave us issues during the freeze, we bought her a newer truck.

The same truck we bought her 3+ months ago is showing to have a very low trade value of just over what we gave for it then. If we were to try and but that truck right now, from a dealership at least, it projects to be about 8k more than what we gave for it.

Absolutely insane.

Yeah itís absurd. Iíve been really itching to turn my Ď18 TRDPRO Tacoma into a 13-14 FJ Cruiser(I just miss manual transfer case and a SUV).

Found a dealership with a low mileage Ď14 FJ but they wanted me to trade my Ď18 TRDPRO Tacoma with about $17k in mods/suspension with less than 55k mileage in plus I pay them an extra $10k on top. Told the salesman he needs to tell his manager to lay off the crack pipe. Prices will come down, I remember the Ď08 and Ď15 dips when they tried to gouge potential pre-owned vehicle buyers. But vehicles as simple as sedans that would regularly be $8000-$10000 are being advertised for $19-$21k for something like a 2015 or 2016 model, holy hell this is robbery!!

Also saw a Ď13 FJ Cruiser with 129k mileage for $45k and a Ď18 Rubicon Jeep for $55k!!! Are you ****ing me!!

I felt like I got a decent deal on tundra crew cab with 5.7 liter. TSS off-road. Only 2wd. Very nice truck. It’s a 2017 & had 27k miles & got it for $36k

Yeah it rough. My buddy bought one of those Chevy Colorado Buffalo Packages. I think thatís what he said. Anyways they called him offering full price for it back plus $5k. Something to do with Chevy is struggling to meet the demands of the computer processors and ECUís in many of their vehicles when repairs are necessary.

Cross your fingers nothing electronic goes out on your vehicle I guess. Might be sitting on a unusable vehicle till the components become available.

Sold my truck Monday. Got 7k more for it than I bought it for. 2019 Trail Boss double cab, 38,000 miles. Luckily I have a work truck I can do what I need to in so I couldnít pass up the money.

monthly payment posse in effect...

who cares about the price when you can just drag out the payments for another 84 months.

The dealer across from my office had a truck that the window sticker said 42k.
It was used with 7k miles and they were asking 48k.
I asked if it was a misprint and nope, it sure wasn't.

My brother is looking at new trucks. They are adding a $4k "market mark up" to the MSRP as the new price. They said its the "current value" for the trucks.

I would too. How else are you going to pay your people and your property taxes?

I guess an idiot that buys a 75k truck to drive to work and get groceries 99% if the time is going to also buy it for 80k.

We had an extra vehicle I sold. 2018 GMC Yukon Denali with 46k miles, bought it for 58k with 15k miles 2 1/2 yrs ago and just sold it for 52. Guy took it to auction, curious what he sold it for. I probably could have held out longer for a better price, but overall happy with it. Just crazy

I’ve got 4 trucks, and I use them all but am thinking I could probably make do without a couple of them if the price was right.

Yep my dealership called me out of the blue and offered me what I paid for my TRDPRO Tacoma plus $2500. But the same thing, I donít want to drive a clunker in return and anything decent right now is absolutely absurd.

You want to see something insane, Google Tacoma, FJís or 4runners. You think itís bad with the big three. Guys with Toyotaís think they are sitting on gold mines lol

I believe it. My truck is paid for and runs great. I don't need to jump into anything that doesn't makes sense.
I get the supply and demand. I'm happy to be in a good spot on vehicles.

Has nothing to do with supply and demand. The world is upside down. It will correct itself. Hang on to your seats in the meantime!!

It is crazy. I bought a really clean 2014 ram 2500 4x4 2 years ago as an extra truck to tow with. Paid 29k with 80k miles on it. Dealer called last week and offered to buy it back for 37k. No way I could find another like it for that price so I turned down the offer. I was shocked as it has 106k on it now. I have a 79 CJ 5 in the barn that I would let go for 12k😁

Yeah this has me regretting getting rid of my Ď03 Tacoma commuter truck. Had I kept it, I could have made a killing off this Ď18 Tacoma of mine.

Anything Toyota or Honda is on a whole other level of absurd inflation and dealerships are buying them up like crazy.

Just bought a spare car this weekend for when the excursion goes in for the build. Searched FB marketplace for private owners and told them I was bringing cash, we both left happy.

Buying from an individual on FB marketplace or CL seems to be the best bet for the market conditions. Dealers just aren't discounting anything right now.

A year and a half ago I bought a new silverado 1500 for strictly a work truck, they were giving me a monthly truck allowance. I didnt want to put miles on my duramax. I quit to become self employed earlier this month. Did a quote for givemethevin they offered more than I owed, given the allowance and amount over pay off i feel i did really well. A few months ago I checked and it wasnt even in the ballpark of what I owed due to a small accident and damage that had been repaired. Just glad i dont have to buy another.
