Default Oregon hunting 2020

I figured Iíd start another thread about this years hunting and fishing adventures. So far we have gotten out ocean fishing once and have gotten a few cameras up. We have 2 elk tags, 2-4 bear tags and 3 deer tags between us this year so we will see how it all plays out. Iíll try and post as regular as I can but figured Iíd start a thread now as bear season opens up Saturday and fishing has been off the hook.
The wife doubled up on some nice lingcod.

Spring turkey came and went far too fast but between our 6 tags and taking some newbies and friends out we finished the season with 13 birds on the ground. Here is a photo of some of the birds we got to be a part of.
Then we have been focused on scouting a checking the cameras. So Iíll share some photos from so far.

Got my tree stand put in place and hoping some good luck comes my way. The wife is trying out a ground blind about 300 yards from my stand.
I hope you all enjoy the adventure seeing some hunting in a different world almost on the west coast. Season starts the end of August for elk and deer and the Tuna are starting to show themselves.

Thanks. I donít get on here as much but wanted to try and do another one with all the craziness going on. I also enjoyed others adventures and being able to live through them when I have nothing going on.

I killed a black bear with my handgun about 45 miles north of Grants Pass in 2018 and going back for another August 2021! Some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen!!!
Wish it wasnít such a politically liberal place, or Iíd consider relocating.

Well the state as a whole is pretty conservative but you add those big cities and we all get canceled out. Who did you hunt with down south?

A few years back I met a guy through work who lives in GP. He always wanted to kill a hog and I a bear. We made a deal to trade each other a hunt. Was weird picking him up at airport the first time, but we had an excellent hog hunt at my place that weekend and a great friendship began. Weíve hunted together over the last few years in TX, OR, and AZ. Heís has become one of my best friends. I go stay with him and he takes me out to a few of his honey holes. All I pay for is airfare and a license and he does the same when he comes here.

Lamprey eel that it had been eating on. It spit it up once we got it on board.

This is the last check of local deer cameras before I leave in the morning for a couple weeks due to military stuff. Got a new buck on camera that looks to have a double main beam.

The big guy is still coming around and hope to put an arrow in him come September.

In your turkey collage, bottom row, middle girl...... isn’t she instagram famous or something? I think her husband is too, and do fitness as well. Anyways, haven’t been on Instagram in about a year or so but she looked familiar.

That would be Courtney aka HeroOutdoorJourney on Instagram. The bottom right is another pretty popular Instagram influencer and thatís Taren. We helped Taren get her first turkey and Courtney was having some issues with finding good turkey spots. So we helped them out. Though Courtney and Steven arenít together anymore.

Hello from your neighbor a little north. Headed out Wednesday for a 4 day bear hunt with the daughter to try and get her first black bear. Plan to take a few more days off of work this season since we aren’t headed to Texas this year to hunt. Hopefully I can get her on an elk also this season.

We are under 2 weeks away from season. Lots to get done and I just got back home from my military stuff. Checked a couple cameras but the activity has gone down due to the high temperatures and they arenít coming in as much during daylight hours.

Lots of fires happening right now in the state and I have been alerted that I may get called up. Should know more come Monday. Been very slow on the cameras as far as critters. No elk this go around but a bear, deer and coyotes. The blacktail seem to be more willing to stay the course.

Some nice pictures. My wife grew up in Oregon, we went up there about five years ago, to see where she grew up. Very pretty country. I would love to go back and do some hunting and fishing some day.

Just got back from 5 days of elk hunting and pretty bummed to say the least. Saw 3 elk the entire time and people in every canyon. I honestly would call the area little California if I didnít know better. Though I had fun and saw tons of deer and even got to see some mountain goats. Going to hit the coast range and chase some elk and then see if I can find one of the blacktail bucks I have on camera.

Well my season ended last week due to be called up for wildfires. Though the wife gave it one last run at it and last night she shot her first archery bull and first Roosevelt bull.

Got the bull all cut, wrapped and in the freezer. Ended up with 113 packages of burger and 77 packages of steak.

Then yesterday I took the little brother out and he tagged out on a nice little 3x2 blacktail.

Spent 5 days elk hunting and our group killed 3 bulls opening day. 5 point and two spikes. Went from cold and east moving to very cold and over a foot of snow in under 24 hours. Great time and I canít wait to be back in elk camp next year. We have a few tags left in our pockets so I hope to post a few more pictures for you all.

It was a great morning to sit on the blind even though I was a little late getting there. This guy came in on a string grunting. Decided he would be good to fill my extra blacktail tag on.

We are about a week and a half left on late season blacktail hunting. In typical 2020 fashion for this year all of our big bucks have disappeared. Itís been at least a month since we have seen them. So this guy has just started showing up and he finally made the fatal mistake of coming in during daylight hours. They get their name the grey ghost for a reason. The wife made a stellar shot and he went 50 yards and was done. Sheís tagged out for the year and now anxious to chase some birds.
