Flash drive for IPhone backup

I've seen these advertised. Has anyone tried them and do they work for total backup and to move all of your info from one phone to another ?

I just use the iCloud. It has worked flawlessly and I have changed phones 4 times.

I bought one of those flash drives that has a lightning port on one end and a usb on the other to back up a phone. Worked good and easy to use.

I bought it at bestbuy, DuoLink I think was the name.

I just thought that it would be simpler and would always have the flash drive handy for backup.
