Summit cable shrink tubing

Has anyone , who uses a summit climber, replaced the shrink tubing on your cables? New cables cost around $35, but the shrink tubing is around $15. Just wondering about installing the tubing, and how does it hold up? I read one guy shrunk the tubing on in the oven at 350. Anyone heard of doing it that way?
