    Alaskan cruise

Headed on a cruise to Alaska in June with my family. I am thinkIng about renting a lens to take. Which one should I rent? I have a canon 7d with a sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 and a 50mm. I want a big zoom. Most pics will be scenery and of my 2 yr old and wife. Should I do the 70-200 f2.8 or something bigger or different? Say 100-300 or 100-400 with higher f stops. Not sure the f's are going to matter much outside.

I would rent the biggest you can afford.

Rent the 70-200 and a 2x converter. Fast when you need it and lots of zoom when needed. You might want that 2.8 early or late or to get fast shutter speeds to combat a moving ship.

I have an old 2x converter. Im leaning to the 70-200 f2.8 but wanted to see what others thought. Thx

I have the 7-200 f2.8L and I think you'll be sorry you didn't go 400, even with the 2x converter. Too good of a trip for degraded pics using your 2x.
