Default 5x6 Custom Blind Build

My wife is building a house and I couldnít bring myself to burn all the scrap lumber with it being so expensive, so I decided to build me a new blind with the scraps. I am trying to catch up so the roofers can shingle it for me and also the spray foam contractors can insulate it for me.

The inside wall dimensions are a true 5x6 so it should be plenty room for me and my 4 yr old. I plan to put deerview windows and ez tower brackets on it. It is going to be heavy, but my dad has pallet forks for his tractor so hopefully I will be ok.

I am going to buy smart siding for the outside so I will have some cost there. I do plan to finish out the inside with some paneling and carpet, I just havenít figured out the best option yet.

I plan to work it tomorrow and will post some updates

Great start! Definitely will be heavy, but solid.

Good design on this nice project, great to use lumber from house build. Post up pics when finished. You and your 4 year old are going to make some great hunting memories in that cool blind, good luck.

Update - finally had an afternoon to work on the blind. Got all the framing done except for a little dead wood for inside walls.

I had a few hours to work on the blind today. I finished the dead wood, put some of the expensive A** OSB on the roof. I got the osb covered with a waterproof barrier and 2 fascia boards on before running out of daylight.

Looks like that's some of that good heavy lumber not like the crap you buy today. Any square nails in it.

No square nails in it... This was all bought recently for the house in the background. Now a lot of this wood was used for bracing so there is a bunch of nails in them, but they all came from framing gun.

Had a decent day of work. Found some more dead wood that needed to be added. Ran out of 6Ē fascia hardie so I need to pick up a sheet tomorrow. My hardie blade also but the dust.... My plunge and cut router bit has to large of a shaft for my router so I will have to wait to cut the doors and windows out. I did add some rafter ties and floor ties for high winds.

I hope to finish the trim work in the next few days. So the painters can go to work.

Itís really strong, the siding really tightened everything up.

Smart move to coordinate with the house build.
Don't forget to add some kind of vent on the roof before they chingle it!! If not the roof, maybe on the gabled ends. Will keep it from getting musty/moldy up in there.

All the trim is on... Glad someone invented caulk because a few places will need some lol. I am no carpenter by any means. The 1x2Ē trim under the soffit didnít like my framing nails.

I am going to cut the window and door openings tomorrow. We should have spray foam before the weekend. I hope my 14 gauge wire makes it in time to wire in some lights and fan.

Update for the weekend. I cut the door and wired the stand for lights and fans. It is ready for insulation. I hope the spray foamers start tomorrow.

I probably won’t work on the stand this weekend because I am cooking in a cookoff.

My next to do item is caulk the stand and use red guard to have it prepped for paint.

Got it moved to my wifeís other project and they shot some paint on it for me. It was all my dads tractor wanted. It would raise and lower but I did not have any tilt.

Starting on the inside soon and waiting for a roof.

Man it was hot today. Finished installing the interior walls, shelves and shooting rest. I went ahead and installed a rubberized coating on all the window and door sills.

All I need to do on interior is caulk, paint and install carpet.

Do yíall think I need to install a vent in this thing? I know the poly tanks are a must but I am not sure about this.
