Default Poison Ivey?

I used my DRT to climb the tree this morning in the dark and after sunlight I see this sprouting off of several large vines.
The leaves donít really look like the poison ivy Iím used to seeing, but the little dingle berries and 3 leaves have me concerned..,
Iíve always heard leaves of 3 let be.

What do yíall think?

Well, trying to upload the pic standby please.

Thanks, I figured as much.
Been in the saddle all day, might as well finish the evening and see what happens.

Thanks again.

Yep. It’s the ivy.

Go home and shower immediately. Wash thoroughly with good suds and you’ll be fine. Don’t forget any weird spots though.

Scrub and wash multiple time everywhere with dish detergent. It's probably to late. But, I would still try it.

always keep rubbing alcohol in the vehicle, pour over exposed skin and dry with paper towel,, works way better than any medicine you will find,,, the alcohol causes the oil to wash off and dries the skin also

That's it fo sho. You can get it from the vine too. It's all over the woods behind my house. My wife gets it from the dog. I'm immune to it.

Double shower with Dawn dish soap. Make that triple shower. Hope you haven't touched your Johnson bare handed. I've heard bad things about that.

I'm so allergic to this stuff i start itchin when I'm downwind of it....ive wiped my skin down in acetone before trying to get any potential residue off of me that I came in contact with.......ive done the exact same before....climbed a tree with it all in it like a dummy.....my dermatologist knows when I walk thru that door ive been in the woods and it's time for the steroid pack.....she went so far as to recommend me doing more fishing and less hunting.......

I was 10 years old when I learned what poison Ivy was. Coon hunting with my dad and uncles and being Christmas time and eating all them sweets and fruits and the walking in the woods stimulated a monster bowel movement and guess what? No reach back paper so Dad told me to just grab some leaves and be quick about it. The next month and a half was not the most pleasant time of my life. Coppers water and calamine lotion several times a day and I finally quit drag my butt across the floor like a dawg with worms.

I did the same thing as you and now have it in my face and around my eye.

Lesson learned to check the leaves before you climb.

If if had berries, good chance it was sumac which is worse than poison ivy for me. I am highly allergic to all that stuff. Seems like it just jumps on me. What I have found that works best for me is something called Tecnu. You can get it at walmart or any place like CVS or Walgreens. Use a washcloth and scrub the area you are concerned about and then rinse the area very good. I can feel it coming on before you can see anything. It helps me a lot. Give it a try.

The best thing to keep in your truck if your hunting or working in areas that have it is the waterless orange hand scrub you get at auto parts store or tractor supply. It removes oil and have the pumice in it for scrubbing. If I even think I’ve got into it I scrub myself down before I get in my truck.
Make sure you wipe everything down with a degreaser cleaner like your stand and the inside of your truck. That oil will stay in any surface it has touched for a while.

Thanks for all the info, I did have some Technu in the truck and used it on all exposed areas. It's been about 36 hours since exposed and nothing yet, but it usually takes a couple days for me to start feeling the effects. We'll see.

Then so far so good, maybe that Technu in your truck was the game changer. Good luck, hope you donít show any symptoms now.

Update...
I only had a minor reaction to the poison ivy.
Never had to go to the Dr. and never had to take anything for it.
Not sure if it was the Tecnu that kept it under control (pretty sure it was...) or not, but at this point I'm sold on the stuff!

If I get it, I’m doomed!! I don’t get a mild case of it. Lately if I get it I just go get a steroid shot, but you can only have so many of those a year. Try my best to avoid it, best I can.
