Anyone know what kind of bug this is? It landed in my beard and bit me on the cheek. I'm itchy from my ear to my chin now! For reference, that is the head of a hammer at the top of the picture.

I don't think its a deer fly either. Too small. It was only slightly larger than a gnat.Comment

I think it's a biting midge...Ceratopogonidae. At least it is about the same size and has the spotted wings.Comment
