Default A Blind Build

I had a friend give me an old 4' x 4' Chas-Mac blind. This was one of those tower blinds with 12' legs that you crawl in through the floor. I didn't get a before picture but this is all that was left of it.

I built the frame on the table and then attached it to the old bottom piece.

I didn't get any pictures of the floor and walls going in but I used 3/4'' treated ply wood for the floor and the roof and 1/2'' for the walls. You can kinda see two sides back there on the table in this picture.

I installed 2'' x 6'' shelves on three sides and covered them in some boat carpet that I had. The floor is covered in the same carpet.

This is my favorite part of this whole thing. My neighbor seems to save or collect a lot of stuff, for re-purposing purposes I guess you could say. I sent him a text asking if he had any of those concrete trailer house steps laying around. Sure enough he has some! So I go over and take a look at them but they are too short for what I'm wanting to do. BUT, he has this stuck off in the bushes! We work a deal (free) and it's mine! It's the roof off of some old kids play house! Very thick and heavy plastic!

I pressure washed it and cut the opening a little bigger and she fit perfect! My wife said it looked like the Keebler cookie house!

I ran some 1'' x 2'' around the top for a ledge for it to sit on and put two 3'' deck screws in each side. Painted and installed!

I cut the original 12' legs down to 3' and built a set of little wooden stairs to get in it. I'll go out in a little while and get a picture of it where it is set up at.

What gauge metal did you use for the frame?

That's a nice blind. Your putting a lot of work in it. I bought this from a guy I know here runs a Porti Poti company for $60 and cost me $40 more to fix it like I wanted. Even through in a new roof. It will last about a life time. Even has skids built on it so its to move around by my self. Yes and it has been cleaned.

For $60 a piece you can't go wrong and he only lives 2 miles from me. I was fixing to spend $1000 for one like my other one I have and the hell with that. Plus I'm 62 now and not 20 like my Bride likes to remind me and cannot do all the things like I use to. Lol

I thought about it but Iím not sure how many years it had left in it without a little extra UV protection. Itís been outside for quite sometime.
