I meant for the muck on the bottom he wants to dig out. Plants can have a solution, but i would treat plants in water after everything else is finished.

Pile up the muck AND the plants, and use it to top dress the pasture.

The place based out of Huntsville's phone number is 936-931-7663 and they travel from Texas to Mississippi so Houston area would be close enough.

It is called Texas Pond Services and they are on Facebook. They just finished a pond in my area that was having the exact same problems as you. They include pictures on the FB page.

Thanks for the info Blane. I may contact them if I cant remedy this myself. Really trying to spend as little money as possible on this.

I am aware of how problematic salvinia is. You cant even legally transport it in Texas. I probably take it to the burn pile if I can get it out of there. Still thinking of how to go about it. It is a floating plant, so could possibly rake it off the top prior to draining, then dig out the pond. I'd place some of the muck on the **** to build it up a bit, and haul off the rest.

Can anyone recommend a good dozer guy that is familiar with digging ponds in the Houston area?

Once it's introduced, it never goes away. (I wouldn't eat a fish from any pond)

I would spray that salvinia first and let it wilt/rot to reduce the bulk of material you will have to remove.

I would try to get someone with a track hoe with an extend-a-boom to reach out and grab the stuff out. Could probably remove a lot of the muck from the bottom as well.

I googled it and all that comes up is Glyphosate based products. You have a link to what you are talking about?
