Default Dead Cow Bowfishing!

Our neighbor needed help removing a cow that drowned last weekend in the winter blast, he didn't know how to get a chain on her to drag her out. I suggested that my bowfishing rig would probably work as long as she wasn't hung up. I explained the line 300# and she was probably fairly buoyant from decomposition so we headed to the pasture yesterday, one arrow later we were pulling her close enough to get a chain tied to her and removed her.

Sucks for the rancher but then again nice work. We had 2 angus try to walk across a pond and fall in. Both unfortunately died. Tractor, little boat and rope was all we needed.

I bet that cow ranked after sitting there all week.

Bow fishing at its finest. I’d have let him remove the cow once it was close to shoreline. But my guess is he lets you hunt his place.

May be a dumb question, but what was the benefit of removing the cow from the water hole?

Good job Sir.

If not removed it will sour the water for the other cattle, the tank was fairly small and the only water source for that pasture.

You would’ve worn your bow rig out at a ranch near me, heard they lost 36 head in one tank! I was fortunate to only lose one.

Wouldn’t want to be downwind from the “air” let out by a gut shot!
