What 150class said. They are like hogs where we hunt. More of a nuisance. Will eat the hell out of your protein. Lie down under the corn feeder and camp out. Samj

I think the other thing to remember is mass. You are looking for them to touch or **** near close to it. I have also seen many that are 28,29Ē that banana horn out rather than curl back that look just as great if not better. You get above 33Ē and itís doesnít really matter. Itís a beast. Also keep an eye on those chaps, full long chaps make a sheep mount look so much better.

This is how I feel. An old mature ram with huge body and good chaps, mass will prob have some good length also. Those that are 33+ are just Beast.

Wow! Some studs!! Thanks so much guys. Was hoping to see some 27-28 inchers. But somewhere close to 30” for $1000 with a bow isn’t bad then.

I didnít put tape on this one, but he was plenty big enough for me. Heís at Hills of Texas in Llano. Iím sure Iíll see him again around Thanksgiving, lol.

Also, I think they are delicious. I cubed the backstraps and make red chili adobo and stews. I ground the rest and made sausage last weekend. Theyíre not venison, but theyíre plenty good table fare. Like anything else, I think itís all in the care of the animal after the shot and proper prep of the meat when cooking. Low and slow has been the key for me with Auodad.

Gold medal ram. 32” with 13” bases (if I remember the base measurement correctly). Shot free range in Terlingua.

Then there’s my dads he shot last October. 26” ram with 12” bases BUT his lack of length was from brooming. His chaps were INSANE. Just as much of a trophy in my opinion as mine. He shot him at 550 yards free range in Terlingua also.

Be sure your taxidermist is quality when having this animal done up. The chaps is what makes the mount above and beyond horn length.

This is another ram I took this six years ago around marathon. He went 30x31. I agree with what some others have said. Donít get caught up in horn length. Go for that mature brute ram look. If he tapes out longer than you thought itís just a bonus.
