Funny I’m laying here on my phone and this notification pops up! I suffer from it too and struggle to find a cure. I take zzquil and melatonin and it works some days. Zanex is about all that’s helped me but I try not to fake it unless I’m really bad for several days. Mine seems to come and go and not every night thank goodness

Man I don’t know. It **** sure sucks that’s for sure. It’s tied to a lot of other things, like stress, depression, diet and so on. Just need to talk to your doctor again and get some options and opinions.

I still dont do 8 hrs. Keto may not be your answer. Try no red meat after x time. No processed flour or meats. Vegetarian evening meals. No dairy. Gotta find what is best for you.
Meditation and breathing. 30 minutes or more of heart exercise a day I sleep about 6 hrs straight- then look at news and TBH - before my day started after about 2 hours of sleep. |

I used to have a hard time getting sleep and when I don’t sleep I get in a mood. I really focused on it and my sleep has improved 100x from where it used to be.
Cut processed foods out of your diet Exercise Eat dinner early (5:30 - 6 for me) Keep your phone in the other room, not next to your bed No tv in bed when trying to sleep, read a book instead Block out as much light as possible in your bedroom (no bright alarm clock etc) Go to bed at the same time every night |

Struggle with this on and off... diet and exercise seem to be the answer for me... Keto makes me feel better over all and makes exercising easier. Being exhausted from work or exercise does wonders for my sleep.
As mentioned above if you are on your phone or iPad ( or similar device ) at night you need to leave them in another room... |

I'm asleep as soon as head hits the pillow, but only for about 4 hours. Then it's a struggle to shut off the brain. I do know the thoughts and perceptions we have in the middle of the night have a bizarre fondness towards worst case scenarios. I use my phone and 1 earbud to watch/listen to repeated episodes of Our Planet on Netflix. Gives my brain something to do. I seldom make it through an entire episode.

Diet, health , eating late, weight...
So many factors, but overall wellness Seems to help the most for me.. Alcohol and eating later are the worst... I only drink on a rare weekend occasion now And eating much after 7pm is not good for me.. I sleep really good now... CBD is an option |

As others have said: no phone or TV in the bedroom. Phones especially. The apps, sites, etc are literally designed to keep you engaged, so the exact opposite of what we need at night. Then factor in the blue light, etc and it’s all fighting against you getting quality sleep. One of many factors, sure. But it’s one almost all of us have in common.

WHat others have said, but stress was my biggest problem. I would go to bed and have a thousand thoughts running through my head and all of them were about work. Fixed it when we sold the company.
Another thing was my bed itself. I have lower back issues and would wake up in pain after about 4-5 hours of sleep. We bought a new mattress with the adjustable frame/mattress and if I can get a little bit of incline, no waking up at all. |

I used to suffer terribly from insomnia, at it's worst I'd go up to 3 days at a time with less than 4 hours of sleep. I usually sleep pretty well now, here's what helped.
Practicing good sleep hygiene is a start: -Cold, dark, soundless bedroom -Consistent bedtime and wakeup -Only use bedroom for sleeping/throwing hip/changing clothes, do not work or entertain yourself (outside of aforementioned hip throwing) -No caffeine after midday -Cut out computer/phone time 4 hours before bed Things that seemed to make the greatest difference: -Regular exercise -Losing weight -Reducing my stress levels (this meant changing careers) None of those may be a cure, but they don't hurt. |

I had a bad time with sleep for several years. Recession crushed our family business just as I began to take over ownership, lost my sister to depression/anxiety and after that had a herniated disc that kept me awake for most of the night for over a year. There’s no misery like not being able to sleep.
I’d recommend a sleep study to begin with. I did one at the peak of insomnia and just laid awake all night per usual, but learned a few things. As others have said, no phones or clocks in the room. Sleep has become a ritual and I’ve come to value what a good nights rest does. I take a dose of liquid CBD and an extended release z-quill and wear a breath right strip. I broke my nose in my mud 20s and should have a sugery to open up my nasal cavity. I took a pause from alcohol and that was a huge help. Wish I’d have tried this a lot sooner. I also cut out a lot of caffeine and don’t have any after lunch as it’s a trigger for anxiety. I really focus on a clean 8 hours of rest and changed other things in my life to allow me to be home in time to get what I need done, get the kids in bed and get myself to bed and relaxed. Things being shut down here and there have really helped me slow down and just be. I stumbled across Mettaverse music on YouTube and that’s also been a big deal as a listening routine to nod off with. The guy who makes those has some enlightening interviews. There’s nothing heroic about avoiding seeing a doctor or trying some medications or therapies, yet as guys we seem to avoid it. I’ve had a strong mental shift in attacking the things that kept me awake and basically becoming numb and not caring about what doesn’t matter. For me personally, shutting off news, social media and focusing harder on my hobbies and real quality time with my kids. I live in a bit of a bubble, but I like it, I sleep well, I’m happy and feel a level of focus that’s really been rewarding. Last edited by Txtourist; 02-21-2021 at 09:44 AM. |

Two Benadryl + 1 stout beer = 5/6 hours sleep. I have worked shift work for over 20 years. Sleeping during the day has always been a challenge. Dark room, fan, and the above recipe has helped me as well as anything.

This seems common, my insomnia medicine is only good for 4-5 hours, then the slightest thing can wake me up, sometimes I can fall asleep but then am groggy and in pain when I do wake up

General advice for insomnia;
Get checked for sleep apnea. (I have it and use a CPAP, life changer) Cut the caffeine after 2:00 pm. Or 8 hours before sleep time. Exercise helps on so many levels (stress, depression, anxiety, sleep) it is also the hardest to make yourself do. Don’t eat close or within a few hours of bedtime Try and stay off phone/ipad for hour before bed (very hard for me) CBD oil drops under the tongue about 15 minutes before bed really helped me fall asleep faster. And I think helped with pain/stress which was a great added bonus. Get a very good reputable brand, it’s worth it. Last edited by W E H; 02-21-2021 at 10:21 AM. Reason: Added thought |

If you can answer yes to many of the above, my advice is to find a person who specializes in Functional Medicine and make an appointment. I think you need a hormone test first and foremost. I have the same problem. Your cortisol are supposed to rise sharply in the morning, stay fairly high during the day, and begin to decline at approx 8:00. p.m. I had my adrenal hormones tested and it showed my cortisol levels were higher at 8:00 pm and midnight before starting to decline just after 4:00 a.m. Exactly the opposite of what they're supposed to do. If this is your problem, as I suspect it may be, this is why the medications and supplements you've been taking either 1) don't work for long or 2) don't work at all. Good luck. I feel for you. If you decide to consider a functional medicine specialist, let me know how I can help. DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a medical professional, just a person who's live a long time, seen a lot of things, and (according to her husband) thinks she's right about everything. |

Since I started using medical cannabis I don’t have problems sleeping. Usually fall to sleep within five minutes of hitting the pillow. A full eight hours of sleep is what I expect.
If you don’t have to take any wiz quizzes it is good/safe natural option. |

I’ve used a lot of the above methods with mixed results. When nothing seems to work and I’m laying there med and frustrated I’ll pray about it and read the Bible next thing I know I’m asleep. And in those rare occasions it doesn’t work well it was time well spent.

I have been prescribed Ambien, I have taken zzquil, Nyquil, Melatonin... everything. I'm tired at work get home... If I go to sleep at 6:30pm I wake up in an hour or 2 every time and cant go back to sleep. If I go to sleep at 9-10 ill be up at midnight. I wont get sleep for 8 days and then I'll have a day off work, finally pass out and its like my body is OUT. I'll sleep 15 hours.
Xanax works, ambien works well but if I must be in bed right after taking it. |

I am 52 and dealt with this my whole life. I would talk to your Dr and get them to refer you to a sleep specialist. For years I self medicated with alcohol, please do not fall into that trap. I was taking 10 zquil pills right after work, then at 8pm my 3 prescription sleep meds-Ambien, Xanax and 1 other I cant remember, then 9 pm I would take a 1/4 to 1/2 bottle zquil and it was a crap shoot if I was going to sleep. With no meds i would be up 3-4 days straight, then crash hard one night and repeat. It was horrible being tired, irritable etc. When I went to my sleep Dr they told me to stop the zquil and wanted me to step off the prescription meds. He told me I was going to go to sleep and quit breathing if i kept up what i was doing. I have been working on different meds to see what will work. I am having very good luck with Mirtazapin. I actually sleep and feel good which is huge compared to what i was doing. They suggest using white noise, which works. I also get off the computer/phone/TV about an hour before bed. I cut all stimulants such as coffee, cokes etc. He went through all my meds and removed all stimulants. I cant stress enough how much a sleep specialist has helped. None of the over counter stuff worked

I try to avoid the medicated approach. Better diet and consistent hard workouts keep me tired enough to get good rest the vast majority of the time. Occasionally in times of high stress I'll have a night where I just can't sleep and I may resort to low dose of Melatonin but most of the time I just suffer through and go without sleep.

Dont get on the computer, Iphone or laptop after 8:00 pm, doing so stimulates and wakes your brain into work and awake mode. Whatever you do, dont look at your phone during the night - leave your phone in the kitchen or elsewhere. Use an old-fashioned alarm clock for time and alarm (which you probably dont need).

I have no answers for you. Im going on 20 years working 12hr swing shift. My routine is 3-4 hours of sleep each day / night then on the 3rd or 4th one I will pass out. Wife and kids have learned to avoid me after I work off because I am irritable and have a hair trigger.

Yes it is and there’s many more forms than just smoking it and being a pot head. You sir are the very definition of “ignorance and miss understanding” that he speaks of.... It works wonders in cancer patients, anxiety disorders, blood pressure and many many other medical issues. The stigma of marijuana has folks like you judging even the conversation of its true all natural benefits. I was the same as you until several friends and family (my mom and uncle in particular) got cancer and the only this that relieve their pains and helped them regain their appetite due to chemo therapy is when I realized there’s a upside and true benefit to MJ or cannabis oils. Calm down and do a little research. It’s has to be controlled and prescribed but it has tremendous benefits in certain medical situations. It works and can be a game changer if limited legality could happen ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Reading comprehension and understanding the English language seems to a problem for some. You have absolutely no idea what I do for a living so to call me ignorant on this topic is laughable. Trust me I am far more educated on this topic than you know and you missed my point. I don't disagree with you for the most part and it is an option for some; however, right now products with anything other than a trace of THC are problematic for folks that want to stay legal in Texas, folks with Federal jobs and anyone that gets hurt on the job in Texas. So no, it is not an option for some that want to stay 100% legal. Friends or family have cancer, etc. I am right in line behind you to get some for them despite what I do to earn an income, Carry on.
