can someone get this to the proper size? Snakelover had done it before, but it is too big now.

It needs to be no larger than 165x165. I believe Snakelover has all the profile pics he did saved and can probably send it to you when he finds us!

Good you had some success. I loaded my avatar at 960x1280 and 109kb. It came back with an upload error. I thought it did not work but low and behold it did load. If you look at the properties now, it is 124x165 and 6.5KB. It looks like it may resize it for you??

When I change my picture to be 100x100 pixels or 64K, it turns up like a bunch of smeared blocks. What am I missing?

Profile pictures have to be no more than 19kb.

Michael, all the profile pics I have saved are 165x165. However, they are also larger than the 19.5kb maximum file size. I can reduce the quality (as I did in mine) if that maximum file size is a must. But if would really make life easier if it could allow about 80kb. Asking too much?

You need to upload it under edit Avatar. It looks like you uploaded it as your profile oic which only shows up in your profile.

I'm trying to get used to using the correct terms now myself. At the old site, the terms "avatar" and "profile picture" were used interchangably. Here, they mean completely different things. The avatar is the picture that shows up under your name on the left side of every post. The profile picture only shows up when someone clicks on your profile.

Brutus,

Click on "User CP" in the upper left portion of the page. This takes you into your Control Panel. On the left side of the screen there is an option that says "Edit Avatar". You will be able to upload your image there.

If anyone wants to email requests for old avatars I may have on file, please include the following....

1) IMPORTANT! Your previous and current usernames. Any username you may have ever used that I may have filed it under.

2) Your first and last name. In rare instances, I may have filed it under your "real" name.

3) A general description of the picture you're looking for. (ex. My ram picture.) Any clues may be helpful.

Send requests to tx_david@yahoo.com.

4) BE PATIENT! I have to find the file, reduce the file size, resave it and attach it to a reply. No promises on time frame, but I'll do the best I can.
