Still waiting on fawns to drop. Bucks were chasing heavily last week of Oct and 1st of Nov. so it should not be long now.
Does are hitting our feeder heavily. Due to such a small property (50ac), i never added protein. I need to go ahead and fence off a place to keep the horses out and put up a free choice station. Our population has exploded the last few years in western Walker County.

This might very well be my last season on this property, its been listed for a while but i hope to make it a little longer. I lived here for the last 7 years and my wife was here before we met (closer to 11 years for her).

Heres my buck from opening day of rifle. He got caught with his pants down chasing a doe.

And I hope to catch up with this guy some time in late October

First year hunting Newton County for me, so hoping all goes well. Got a few small throw and grow kill plots in and all the feeders up before the rain really came. Gonna head back out in a couple weeks to check cards

I hunt Harrison County. I don't plant plots but do have 2 feeders running on about 40 acres. Just corn though. Gotta keep it cheap as possible. Wife says I spend too much money on hunting as it is. Do any of you guys not plant food plots? Just run corn feeders or hand corn on your properties?

I have a mixture of both some properties have a plot some donít... itís as simple or complex as you want to make it just as many deer have been killed on a trail as any food source.

Planted some plots Tuesday.... 7 1/2” rain yesterday. Glad I no tilled it or I would be out of too soil. Checked while ago while looking for most of my fences. They are already sprouting..... but most are on top of the ground. All I can do is pray at this point. Can’t find any sunflowers or millet they might be in the neighbors property down river

Ran tractor till 8:30 but got all the seed planted. Got 3.5 acres planted at “project cottonmouth”. Added some new seeds to the deer mix to experiment.

40# I&C peas
15# black oil sunflowers
1-2# pearl Millet- more for structure and cover than anything

Tomorrow is the 20-week mark till bow/MLDP opens. To me that has always been the point where things happen fast and work has to get done ASAP. It needs to stop raining for a while because I’ve got a lot to do to ready my new area so I’m in better position to whack one of the bruisers that got away last season.

Oldest buck I have on camera after losing all the other mature deer. Hard to judge right now but I believe he is a 4 yr old. Doe will be popping any day now!

This season my place may end up a sanctuary and not hunted unless I get a mature 5+ buck rolling in.

Feed pen repair in my future! First I will have to go full Rambo on these suckers! Small hole they entered in. Going to let them hit it again tonight or tomorrow and then set up Thursday evening.

Ready to unload 30 rounds!

I will have the Tactacam on and taking video! Figured the sooner I set up on them the better. They only stayed for 6 minutes this evening. No pigs on cam in 3 wks and then this. Killed a sow from this group 2 months ago when they were the size of a football.

Man, Justin, those are perfect eatin' size!! You need a PCP air gun with night vision... I've used mine on coons at the feeder and it takes em a while to figure out what's going on when their buddies just suddenly hit the ground and start kickin'... pigs would probably be similar...

Replanted the bald flooded out spots in 2 plots today. I disked then in rather that drill for time sake and a side by side comparison. The drill did save me enough seed to be able to replant the spots... and I still have some seed! All seed is stored in buckets with sealed lids. I can reuse millet and sunflowers next year (pearl head is over $60 a bag). Got enough peas to add in fall plots for the ultimate super attraction!
