I have to say that W.L. Weller Special Reserve is really good! Super cheap and good is fine by me. My friends say that I have become a bourbon snob. I won't buy the blended stuff that many find from Texas. If it is not true bourbon distilled where it is claimed to be from, I shy away from it.

I tried a bottle of Very old Barton, pretty darn good stuff for the price. Hints of Banana at the nose and finishes pretty good.

Angels Envy: very good bourbon, easy drinker. Very unique flavor coming from being finished in the port barrels, almost sweet to me but very enjoyable. The Basil Hayden's is my favorite all around Bourbon I have had. Very smooth and easy on the tongue with a great flavor although a lot more mellow then some. I would recommend both highly with the Basil coming in first by a pretty good margin for my taste buds.

This will be my next taste test tomorrow as it was given to me as a gift but for the price range it would have to be knock your socks off good to justify the price or even to beat the Basil in a straight up in my books. Will update with a review tomorrow

So review on the Garrison Brothers Single Barrel, on my recommendation do not spend the money. There are a lot of bourbons for half the price that are way better. I am not impressed at all. This will stay on my shelf for a very long time until someone else wants a taste.

Plenty good stuff! Did the tour of the distillery the other day and it was very interesting. Got to try all their stuff! It also allowed me to buy a bottle of their staff selection single malt...bottle #132 out of 172! Plenty awesome stuff! Got a bottle of baby blue sittin' here as well.

This thread just goes to show you the individual tastes of everyone when it comes to Straight Bourbon, Blended or spirit Bourbon, all different and all probably good depending on who is drinking it. I do like Garrison Bros., but it is expensive for sure.

This is a Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge or Mathews vs Hoyt vs Bowtech type of thread. Taste is in the cup and taste buds of the glass holder!

Drink on, give us your opinions and enjoy. All this thread does is make me spend more money to try out the ones listed that I have not tired.

You got that right!!! Dickel is fine stuff. Hard to find, inexpensive, but top shelf. My preference is Dickel #12, but it's all good stuff. IF you can find it, it's worth a try. Won't cost you an arm and a leg and will be at least the equivalent of any other other Tennessee Whiskey you can find (well there is only only one, Jack Daniels; all the others are Kentucky Bourbons). You won't get any "cool" points with your buds, but you will get one heck of a fine tasting, smooth, and good tasting whiskey (at a very reasonable price) whiskey. I realize the all that doesn't mean much unless it's "cool," but it is what it is. I'll just keep drinking my Dickel. I've drunk a LOT of whiskey in my 70 some years, but Dickel is by far the best for the buck. pretty much the best. Forget the buck.
