Drivers license renewal

Anyone done this lately? I've got to go in person. Anyone know if you receive your new license the same day or do they mail it to you?

I do mine online. Last time I went in person, it took 10 days to recieve it

Right now, expired Drivers licences and car registrations have an extension for 60 days after the end of the state emergency declaration (which we are still in). It's by appointment only here in Austin, I think they mail it to you.

Every time I've renewed mine they gave me a temporary and mailed the actual license. I had to go in person last year.

I just did it on Tuesday. By appointment only and I received a printout and will get mine mailed in a couple of weeks they said. I had to go in because the DHS now requires proof if citizenship so they can put a star on your license in case you want to get on an airplane to travel.

They will print a temp one and mail the permanent one.

With the appointment they weren’t too bad and limiting the walk ins really was a better experience than normal.

I have to go in to get mine also, the first appt was over a month out though. I was hoping they would just let everyone renew online eventually.

I had to make an appointment for mine expiring in October, earliest opening is late August. My son has to have a new one since turning 18 in May, earliest appointment for him is Dec 6th. This is for Orange, Texas location.

I renewed last year and since I already had the "star" on mine I was able to renew online.
