You could have algae in you diesel, pull the filter and see if you have any orangish sludge in it.

Rebuild the fuel filter housing as mentioned above.

My though also, especially if the truck is sitting for long periods of time. I had an 08 with an 80 gallon aux tank that I battled algae on when I didn’t drive much for any extended time.

It's a very common problem. I have an 08 and I've rebuilt mine about 10 times. Needs to be rebuilt right now. If I get below 1/4 tank and it sits for 8+ hrs, I have to pump it back up.
