My sister-in-laws husband donated his seed for money when he was in college. This was close to 28 years ago. Several years back the fruit of his labor began contacting him wanting to meet their biological father. Seems that most of his seed went to lesbians. The fit hit the Shan when they started wanting to come over and meet their half siblings. Who would’ve ever thought back then that Ancestry.com was around the corner. Be careful what you donate to folks. No telling what that data base will be used for in the future.

Below is a thread telling our Ancestry.com story. To add to it (that was from August, 2019) - she has become a part of our family, sharing Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. A huge blessing for all involved.

The only sperm banks I ever donated to were, uh...never mind.

I sent that to my dad, he said “no, yours would have some Tennessee mountain bootlegger in it.”

This. Let sleeping dogs lie. Wake them up and get bit.

I not sending my DNA to anyone, unless she just happens to walk away with it.

Seems like a simple way for the government to build an extensive data base, and all under the disguise of individual interest.

I'll take my chances and not voluntarily add myself to collective that no one really knows how the results can be used.

I got one for Christmas. I feel bad for not doing it, but i have heard some horror stories (like mentioned above) and am at a good point in my life, where i dont want any unneccessary drama.
