    Electrical Question

Our back bathroom is not used a lot. The light stopped working. Checked the voltage at the switch and it is 85. The light has a tiny glow if you check it at night. Any ideas???

85 volts coming in to the switch or leaving?

A lot of houses the electricians use the plugs where they just plug the wire into the back. These get loose over a period of time. I would check plugs and switch’s to make sure one of these are not loose. If it is the problem it will be on on that is working and the power is going in but not coming out. The only way to find this kind of problem is to have an investigation til you find it

You have a loose neutral if you are getting 85 volts.

If 85 coming to switch, check the breaker for that circuit and see what you have there.

I am with the loose negative group. Probable a wire nut in a junction box somewhere.

I’ve had around that out of a worn gfci before. Had the full 120 coming in. Shouldn’t affect the light but just a thought.
