if its not too late, whats the wing look like, top and bottom. You can get a good indicator on some species from the speculum/armpit band

Immature Mallard drake. Once mature the whole head will be green and the bill will be yellow instead of green.

Agreed. Has all the mallard characteristics, just not fully mature.
