Just got it installed. 48.4 mbps up, 10.9 down, latency at 26ms. This thing is awesome!

FYI...the router is in the attic and the signal is strong everywhere in the house. Even out in the driveway!

Can you explain latency?

Ping time = latency.
How long it takes your devices to send or receive data from the server.
This is the true measure of your speed.
Imagine it like the speed of sound.
You say something, how long before the person on the other end hears you?
Or water coming out of hose.
Latency would be like psi.
You have a hose putting out 5 gal a minute, and I have a hose putting out 5 gal a minute, but your hose is 4" and my hose is 1" inch.
PSI in the 1" hose is going to be going to be much higher( faster), even though we're both getting 5 gal a min.
Lot more to it and just a rough analogy but hopefully you get the idea.

Thanks that helps. We have put high hopes on Starlink at our rural property. Hopefully soon I can have madhatter out to install my dish and a ham antennae on a proper pole

It's not how long the worm is, it's how it wiggles
I was speaking to the diameter though, not the length.

New averages are around 90 up, 14 down with 40 latency. Smokin compared to the old hotspots we were using. And light years faster than hughesnet!

Mine came in last week. It was missing the ground stand. Then I tried to plug the satellite in and the cord was messed up. I requested a whole new unit through tech support and it is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I am excited to see what speed it get. Internet is horrible and cell service is non existent in rual Nacogdoches.

Yes it does. But it is wireless only. I do believe you can buy an adapter that gives you an Ethernet port.

4.8 down/0.6 up. Speed test with starlink was 140 down/8 up.

My understanding is these only work in a defined area. Like a 20 square mile box. if you take the receiver our of that box it will not work.

Bottom line. Once set up don't move...

Very similar to mine. I have two 50 pound bags of sand holding mine down for now. I ordered the adjustable roof mount and I’m waiting on that to arrive.

So how hard is it to get clearance? We have a lot of trees at our camp/cabin area. Worried about getting clearance. Is it pointing more straight up or closer to the horizon? I'm a pretty technical guy so excuse all the industry lingo in my post.

You will need a clear line of site to the sky and it is not straight up. At least mine isn’t. The dish has motors and moves into position on its own. Mine is tilted pretty good towards the north. I believe the signal cone is 110 degrees.

They do make a pole mount to get it up higher.

I’m sure that answers none of your questions!

This may help some with latency issues.

After monitoring mine for 12 hrs so far -
Highest speed was 173mbps, lowest 81mbps.
Highest ping 111 ms, lowest 26ms.
Dropped connection twice, once at 9:23PM, and again 3:17AM.
Pretty **** sporty imo.
Now to see what happens with the speeds once they leave beta.

The horizon arc is 180°, shave 35° off each side and that is the field of view required in all directions for Starlink(beta).
180° is only possible if your in the middle of dead flat landscape and can actually see horizon to horizon.
Figure the distance to your nearest obstruction, then calculate how high you need to be to achieve a clear 110° arc.
Once he gets all 40k of them balls up there, it won't matter anymore, I fully expect it will work from the inside and the units we have now will be outdated.

This is some serious tech. Living in an area with nothing available but a landline or viasat. Averaging over 100mb down and 30ms latency. I am blown away. I could run voip on this if I wanted to. Latency similar to cable. Thank you sir Elon!
